Silvarian
One of the founding species of the Allied Galactic Federation, and one of the first spacefaring species in the Milky Way Galaxy as we know it. So ancient that they even battled with the Kaechulugg in the Silvarian-Kaechulugg War.
Having come before most species, they asserted their dominance early, took control over vast sums of resources from asteroids to stars to mineral-rich planets, and established the Allied Galactic Federation to protect their interests from the System Lords. They haven't accomplished much since on it all. Like an ailing rich relative, owning more than 58% of all assets in the Galactica with no plans to part with any of it.
Their reliance on technology and genetic engineering has led to a de-evolution. Genetic and artificial enhancement is required for essential functions, and heavy medication is required everywhere else. The gene pool for Silvarians has grown shallow as well, with genetic defects rendering most bloodlines barren due to long-term issues with cloning taking popularity over natural reproduction.
Now, after thousands of years, the Silvarians have become reclusive. No longer participating in the wider Allied Galactica affairs.
They’re rarely seen, held up in their rich compounds and stations throughout the Galaxy. Few even know what they look like anymore, but rumors from total genetic decay to extinction to transcendence in a computerized form have spread throughout the Galactica.
