Silvarian-Kaechulugg War

A pre-historic conflict between two of some of the earliest spacefaring civilizations, including the Silvarian and Kaechulugg species, for which it is remembered.   It began not long after the earliest spacefaring species began exploring the cosmos and made contact with one another more than one million years before the current era. Alliances were formed and just as quickly broken as the species of the nascent galaxy competed for resources and territory, leading to a space race to develop faster-than-light travel and weapons of planetary destruction. The specific causes for these conflicts are the cause for much speculation in the anthropological community. Entire species were wiped out in totality during these conflicts without a trace, as much data from this period has been lost due to electromagnetism of the weaponry of this age. Some scholars postulate that this was also deliberate, as a way to "salt the Earth" of vanquished worlds and species, annihilating their genome and legacy.   Some have speculated that many advanced species of this age were regressed in these conflicts. "Bombed back into the stone age", with weapons that devastated worlds, forcing them to recover over the next thousands of years with no recollection of their past.   Though devastating, this conflict spanning hundreds of thousands of years laid the foundation for the current galactic era, with the two remaining species: Kaechulugg dominating the Pirate Territories, and the Silvarians governing Allied Space. Both retain their animosity for the other, neither remembering why.   While the two principle species in this conflict are on the decline or extinct, many species, such as the Marog and Y'coni were uplifted in this time. And have evolved since to become dominant players in the modern Galaxy.
