Old City

When Vapore was founded, the ancient dwarven empires ruled the lands and the floating cities of elves were still in the skyes. It was not the great city known today, and it's original foundations still exist in the old city.

Government

Despite the governmental buildings being in the Citadel, most of the Elders live in the Old city. Its palaces and courtyards are often place for unofficial political meetings, where influential individuals can discuss privately about their next polittical move.

Industry & Trade

In the old city there are the most important banks and insurance institutions in Vapore, but there are little to none productive activities. Those who live in the old city are enterpreurs who own several acivities around the city or employ merchants to import valuable merches, but there are also inheritors or daddy's sons that live with little concern about making, or even managing, money.

Infrastructure

The old city was built around the original nucleus of Vapore, to the sides of the road that once followed the sandy stream. The sewer system is incredibly advanced, and grants an high standard of hygiene.
There are several courtyards between different buildings, as well as different towers, built by competing families to show off their wealth and influence with the highest tower.

Guilds and Factions

The Forgers' Guild has its headquarter in a building in the Old City.
Members of the Sons of the Winter Moon can be seen begging in the streets or at the gates of the palaces of the wealthiest.

Architecture

The typical building has three floors: the ground floor is made out of heavy blocks of solid stone, with few windows and a reinforced gate. On this floor live servants and there are the kitchen and the storage. The first floor is made out of bricks, with a decorated facade with many windows and balconies. On this floor there is usually the dining room. The third floor is built in a similar way, and houses the private quarter of the owner and different bedrooms. In the attic there is usually room for storage of unused items and furnishings.
It is popular to have a front porch to divide the building from the street. The second and third floor are usually built over the porch in this case. The palaces owned by the wealthiest families also have a tower, built for the dole purpose of being the highest one to show off the family's wealth.
