Rick & Roll

Orphaned twin dwarves raised by Shun. They achieved Rank II in The Way of the Open Hand before being conscripted by The Empire of All. They jumped at the chance to join the Elven Court int he fight against the Empire.

Post-War

What’s there to say? They never really changed, staying the wacky, fun-loving pranksters they have always been. Someone, nobody’s quite sure, they achieved the rank of Master and took over the Kurst Monastery together, at least when Opal wasn’t around. They taught many students, all of which were very recognizable in the particular style they used. Despite the Way of the Open Hand’s overall lesson of discipline and control, Rick and Roll became important teachers that all students were sent to for a least a little bit to learn about creativity, improvisation, and how to cope with the unexpected (even if that unexpected is buckets of ice water, woopy cushions, and waking up to a room slathered in butter).   Out of necessity, they did at least mature a little, taking responsible care of the monastery in between antics. They carried on Shun’s tradition of taking in any and all children with no other place to go, and providing a warm cup of tea and friendly conversation to travelers. They also carried on his tradition of making crazy and unusual beers underneath the floorboards and getting plastered drunk.

Personal history

Rick and Roll were found as babies after a shipwreck of dwarven traders washed up on the shore of Kurst. They were the only survivors of the wreck. The people of Amberdew didn't know what to do with the children, until Shun, at the time a hermit who lived alone in a monastery he built for himself, offered to take them in. They grew up in the monastery, learning martial arts from Shun and somehow turning into mischievous devils who pulled pranks on the townsfolk as well as students who occasionally came to train there.
