Bahamut's Betrayal

Celestial / Cosmic

EST 15,000 - 9,000 years Pre-Wizardry Conclave

Tiamat's son, Bahamut, betrays his mother, imprisons her in Hell with the other gods, and is ascended to godhood. Metallic dragons are born. The Dragonborn Empire begins enslaving dragons as well.

Tiamat went further and further to stop the perceived "invasion" of her nest by the others gods, even turning to ally herself with the evil gods in order to strike back against the good ones. Her eldest son, Bahamut, implored his mother to stop her madness, and work together with the other gods to nurture her creation, but she wouldn't listen, wanting the world's riches for her children alone.   Seeing no cure for his mother's madness, Bahamut gathered as many of his brothers and sisters as would listen, and betrayed Tiamat. She was stronger than her children, however, the other gods infused Bahamut with divinity, his scales turned platinum, and he was able to defeat her, imprisoning her in Hell. As a rewards, the others gods made Bahamut a god himself, and the dragons' who'd sided with him were given shiny, metallic scales. Thus, the metallic dragons were born.   The conflict between Tiamat and Bahamut continued in the mortal world, as a great civil war between dragons. The dragonborn were still loyal to Tiamat, however, and the chomatic dragons used their thralls to kill and enslave the metallic dragons as well. It is likely metallic dragons would have been totally wiped out, if not for the dragonborn priests and kings getting greedy, for now that they knew dragons could be enslaved, they turned on their chromatic overlords as well. Eventually, the dragon population was so reduced and brought to heel, that the dragonborn were the unopposed masters of the mortal world.
