Her Royal Highness Serianna, Princess of Ouvezia
Her Royal Highness Serianna, Princess of Ouvezia is the current crown princess of Ouvezia. Much more headstrong and loud than her quiet, dreamy older sister, the Queen, Serianna actually took up swordfighting and fencing and is a respected member of the Queensguard. She took leave for a while when her sister married Luredan, against her advice.
Even for a royal lady of Ouvezia, Serianna has been exceptionally drawn to things considered unfeminine in other countries, and in her youth she quickly picked up on the signs of scorn of certain foreign dignitaries. She especially came to dislike Novali folks and their rigid ideas of womanhood, and when her sister fell for a Novali, the discussions were heated. Her mother Marianna shared her concerns, but knew her eldest well enough not to push too much. Ilisanna, the youngest sister, was usually on Alianna's side, getting starry-eyed whenever the dashing Luredan was around. Serianna often felt everyone was blind to the danger Luredan presented and made herself scarce in Aresia during that time.
It was only after the falling-out between Alianna and Luredan that she learned about her mother sharing her concerns, and how she often told Alianna that her sisters instincts were a valuable thing. Serianna sometimes still lies awake at night, remembering the things she hurled at her mother in those moments of rage when she tried to stop her pushing Alianna too much. In those moments she often wishes that she had been more wise, or had actually talked to her mother instead of storming off like a petulant child. If she had stopped mindlessly pushing, would Alianna have been more open to her arguments? Could she have caused all this mess in the first place, by not realizing how stubborn her sister could get when pushed?
Shared regrets
Her biggest regret is that she wasn't present when her mother suddenly fell ill and passed away of a mysterious illness after a few days of suffering, and sometimes she wonders if it was the grief she gave her that caused her mother's sickness. Recently, she brought all these worries up with Alianna when they were sitting on the balcony in the royal quarters on a moonlit night. It was a very emotional moment for both sisters, and both blame themselves for their mother's death and the current crisis holding the Queendom in its grip. At the very least, though, Serianna has learned to tame her temper and not to mindlessly push, and Alianna gives much more thought to the arguments of others, especially her sister. Ilisanna, though, is keeping her distance from both her sisters, treating them kindly but noticeably distant. These days, Alianna has asked Serianna to be the head of the Queensguard. After pushing back against Luredan's scheme to squeeze her out of power, she discovered that he had replaced the trusted head of the Royal Guards. She quickly asked her Serianna to take over, as she is the person Alianna trusts the most, and reinstated the old head of the Royal Guard as her right hand, with the same pay and privileges as before. Rovanim Coventé, who has always been loyal to the royal family, has no obejction against working under Serianna, though he is worried about her role putting her in harms way. Together, they have devised a way of running things that still leaves Serianna in charge and respected by her subjects, but also keeps her out of harm's way as much as possible.
