Torvar
Nomadic Dwarves of the Northern Plains
The Torvari are a nomadic race of dwarves that are constantly traveling, either in clan caravans, small family units, or even solo. They're known for their wagons, which carry all their worldly possessions and trade goods, and are usually intensely decorated in the signature style of the Torvari: swirling patterns and bright colors. Entering a Torvar dwarf's wagon without permission is one of the swiftest and surest ways to die with a crossbow bolt buried in your neck.
The Torvari are very different from their Khalvari cousins. They have a zest for life, and a reputation for raucous celebrations. It's well known that there are few places in the world to have a better time than being invited to a Torvari campsite. They are free with their drink and food, and love loud music and dancing. A good joke is worth almost as much as actual coin to most Torvar dwarves, and making a Torvar laugh is the quickest way to making a friend for life. The Torvari are also great connoisseurs of beauty and love, and aren't shy about lovemaking and the pursuit thereof. It isn't uncommon to hear a husband and wife bragging to each other about their latest conquests among the "tallfolk" and strict monogamy is rare.
Despite their reputation as a carefree people, they are shrewd traders.. They prefer to deal fairly, but trying to cheat a Torvar will almost always end with you being cheated and not knowing until it's too late. Legends persist that many of the most powerful artifacts in existence are floating around because a clever Torvar got the upper hand bargaining with Etel, the Lord of Lies himself.
The Torvari tend to stand about a hand's length taller than their Khalvari cousins, and slightly slimmer about the torso. The men wear full beards, but shorn to a short length. Women lack the billowy sideburns of the Khalvari women, and are smooth faced. Torvari aren't shy about their bodies, and the phrase "tits like a Torvar" is a common catcall women all across Rhyduania are subjected to. The Torvari love fancy clothing and flashy jewelry. Sometimes when fancy isn't available, bright will do instead. Their culture culture has a deep and abiding love for crossbows, and proficiency with all forms of crossbow is wide spread.
