Voco
Structure
Lord/Lady Exsil Vis
The ruler of Mt. Voco is the head of the Exsil Vis family. Commonly the leader is a patriarch, but female leaders have happened in the country's history.Vulcanium
The Vulcanium refers both to the priesthood that runs Vocan state religion, Vulcanism, as well as the actual, physical structure in which people attend worship services. The priesthood is an integral part of rule on Voco, as they work with the ruler of the country to create new laws.Tressiviri
The highest court of Voco, responsible for interpreting the laws and appropriate sentences for breaking said laws.Maidomii
The greater nobility of Voco. There are four greater houses.Nordomii
The lesser nobility of Voco. There are many houses, and they fall from grace and rise to power very often.Territories
Voco's traditional territories include the whole of Mt. Voco, part of the sea surrounding it, and several smaller islands to the west and south of the island.
The main island contains the vast majority of Voco's population, and most of those on the east side of the island, facing Athering. The west side of the island is largely wildlands, though there are villages on the south and north faces.
The smaller islands off the coast are mostly uninhabited with few exceptions. Those who live there must make regular trips to the main island for supplies.
Religion
Voco is theocratic. The main religion, Vulcanism, is the only one recognized, and it forms the basis for the country's laws and culture. Other religions are forbidden.
Of course, even in a theocracy, people believe what they want to. There are or have been members of other religions on Voco, including the following:
- Paixemor
- Aradian Order
- holders of beliefs from the Cluster of Fire, which has no organized religion
- Magi religion (not currently)
ad gloria per igneum / through fire, to glory

Legislative Body
Voco's laws are created based on scripture. If new laws are needed, the Vulcanium will work with the Lord or Lady of Voco to create them.
Judicial Body
In cases where interpretation is needed, the Tressiviri is called in to interpret.
The Tressiviri is the highest court of Voco. Originally it consisted of 3 noscens, or judges, one from the priesthood, one from lesser nobility, and one from the merchant (commoner) class. Now its ranks have swollen, and it consists of anywhere between 7 to 11 judges, always an odd number, and the nobility and priesthood tend to outnumber the commoner judges.
This is the one area where democracy exists, after a fashion, in Voco; the judges are elected by their peers to the position. Term is five years, and there are no term limits.
Women are not able to hold the position of noscen.
Executive Body
It is expected the Lord or Lady of Voco, usually an Exsil Vis, will enforce the laws of the land.
While the Tressiviri is considered the final word on interpretation, the Lord or Lady of Voco does have some power to veto, or change a sentence from harsher to lighter or vice versa. However, overuse of this power weakens his position in the eyes of his people, and weak leaders on Voco meet untimely ends.
