Astral Elves

The Astral Elves’ journey from normalcy to their current ethereal existence is a saga of adaptation and survival. Originally, they were much like any other elven kindred. Graceful, connected to nature, and steeped in ancient traditions. Their lives were intertwined with the rhythms of the Mid-Realm, living in harmony with the forests and streams. This branch of elven kind was first founded after an event of such magnitude that it shattered their reality. As the Mid-Realm’s fabric tore apart, these elves were caught in the cataclysmic forces, and they found themselves flung into the Astral Spance. This displacement was not merely physical but existential, as they were severed from the lifeblood of their world—the natural magic that sustained them.
In the beginning, the elves struggled. The Astral Spance was alien, devoid of the familiar flora and fauna they revered. The very essence of their being was challenged, and it seemed as though they might fade into obscurity, another forgotten people lost to the annals of history. But the elves’ innate connection to magic and their unyielding spirit drove them to persevere. They learned to draw sustenance from the astral energies, and their bodies began to reflect the otherworldliness of their new home. Their skin took on the lustre of starlight, and their eyes shifted to a white hue. They became beings of both star and spirit, the astral elves.

Their crafts, once made of wood and stone, now shimmered with the essence of stars. Their songs, once echoing through the forests, now carried the harmonies of the celestial spheres.

The Astral Elves embody the essence of nomadism, their existence defined by constant movement and adaptation. Living in small, tight-knit communities refferd to as clans, they traverse the Astral Spance with a profound understanding that permanence is an illusion in the ever-shifting cosmos. Clans are typically composed of extended families or groups bound by common ancestry or shared experiences. The small size of their communities fosters a deep sense of belonging and responsibility in each member. From a young age, elves are taught the skills necessary for navigating the astral currents.
The nomadic lifestyle of the Astral Elves is not born of restlessness but necessity. The islands and nebulae they call home are transient by nature, appearing and disappearing with the whims of the cosmos. Despite their nomadic ways, the desperate clans maintain a network of alliances and friendships that span the Spance. They come together at predetermined times and locations, aligning their movements with celestial events to celebrate, trade, and share knowledge. These gatherings are a time of joy and unity, reinforcing the bonds between clans and ensuring that no elf ever truly feels adrift. 
In this way, the Astral Elves have turned their displacement into a dance with the stars. Their culture is one of perpetual motion, their homes are the islands that carry them, and their community is the clan that sails by their side. They are a people who have embraced the vastness of the Spance, finding freedom in the winds that carry them and strength in the stars that guide them.
