22-24. The Ruins in the Vonereux

The adventurers continued delving through the ruins in Vonereux. Their exploration led them to a bedroom inhabited by a non-hostile wisp. They then continued to a library where they discovered a hidden staircase leading down into a set of guarded and trapped hallways.   The party continued to explore the trapped hallways before discovering a panel in another room that disabled the defenses of the halls. They looked into several locked rooms which appeared to be cells, including one tight room containing a bound spellbook. Inside, a wraith assaulted Jester while cursing and screaming profanities at something called ‘Bivarlane.’ After defeating the spirit and retrieving the book, the adventurers continued their trek down another hall. They repeatedly fought off the complex’s mechanical defenses, and Kent continuously found himself electrocuted by various traps. Eventually, the adventurers came upon a hall leading to the ‘core room’ but retreated for the day to rest before tackling the rest of the complex.   Following their rest, the party investigated one more room with a few constructs within, including a large golem, which they subsequently defeated. The room appeared to be a workshop of some sort from which they gathered more materials along with various scrolls riddled with designs, some faded and others not. They then proceeded to the core room where the adventurers engaged in combat with a mage, a golem made of some hybrid of crystal and metal, and various other minions. Though the battle took its toll on the heroes, they survived the encounter with Andraste landing critical blows and downing the metallic mage and Varris dismantling the golem. Afterwards, the adventurers extracted what they believed to be a phylactery from the mage. Kent and Varris then investigated another locked vault within which rested a large diamond and a cube holding some sort of energy. Though the effort downed them, the two succeeded in extricating the objects before the party as a whole made their way out of the complex, stopping by one final room on the way. There, they found a number of materials, including a spellbook and a journal.   Once they exited the complex, the adventurers navigated their way down the mountainside towards the nearest settlement. On their way there, they encountered two travelers who expressed curiosity at their presence, a pair of elves introduced as Idan and Caedon. Speaking shortly about their exploits, the travelers offered to lead them back to the village of Gillarn some hours away. Ragged from the day’s events, the party agreed without too much debate. True to their word, the group reached the mountain settlement later that night and had a brief reunion with an old ally, Tycus. With their prizes in their pockets and a modicum of security in the settlement, they took their rest for the night at the local inn. The following day, Tycus approached the group with an appeal: to aid in defeating a white dragon terrorizing the vicinity, to which they agreed.
"Adventurers are always so interesting! And these ones seem like they have quite the number of stories in their belts!"
