Northern Demigryph
Native to the hills and forests of northern and central Irona, the northern demigryph combines a lion like body and the head of an eagle. They form packs of between three and ten and hunt in short bursts of speed and power, preferring larger prey such as elk, oxen and horses, using their powerful forelimbs and considerable bulk to bring down their prey before using their more fragile beaks to deliver a killing blow.
Northern demigryphs have large ranges preferring sparse woodland and hilly terrain better to ambush their prey.
Their colouration ranges from a golden brown and a deep ochre. In the northern regions of Eisreik demigryphs are more commonly white with thin black stripes like those of a Timer mountain tiger.
