Geography

Compared to its northern counterpart, Northumbria is a prosperous lands almost entirely covered by vegetation. It has plenty of access to fresh water through the many lakes and rivers that spread throughout the kingdoms from the coast.   The area is split into multiple kingdoms, with four of the kingdoms being island kingdoms, off the south and west coasts of Northumbria. Four of these kingdoms are also referred to as desert kingdoms (although one is not actually a kingdom and merely a desert area). Of the four, one is actually geographically an actual desert, while the other two are plains, although with less vegetation and warmer temperatures than their neighbouring kingdoms.   The rest of Northumbria has large swathes of forests, with one kingdom being enclosed by one. Across the entirety of the northern border of Northumbria are the Northern Mountains - a mountain range impassable except via flight on dragonback that separates Northumbria from what Northumbrians know as the Northern Lands, believed to be an inhospitable area that no one can survive in.

Localized Phenomena

Deadly monsters inhabit the forests surrounding the Kingdom of Nimore and frequently enter the kingdom to attack the settlements within it. There is a magical border placed by the Celestial Elves upon the creation of Nimore that trap the monsters within the borders of Nimore, which the Nimoran monarchy is tasked with maintaining.

Climate

The temperature throughout most of Northumbria is stable, for the most part. Majority of the kingdoms experience warmer temperatures in the summer months and cooler temperatures in the winter months and mild temperatures through spring and autumn.   However, in the desert territories, the temperatures are described at scorching. In the desert kingdom of Aevarin, the temperature is scorching year-round, regardless of season. In the plain kingdoms of Nerian and Nainyth, however, the temperatures drop to freezing during the winter months, but remain scorching through spring and autumn.

Fauna & Flora

Forests and other forms of vegetation cover the majority of Northumbria, and there are hundreds of species of animals that live throughout the region. Localised to Nimore, there are deadly monsters, theorised to have originated from Felhedell before getting stuck, somehow, in Northumbria and then later trapped in Nimore by the Celestial Elves' spell.   Ehatia-Auridor is witness to special plants know as crystal flowers - magical flowers made out of crystal, minerals, precious stones and precious metals, the petals of which are used as currency in Ehatia-Auridor.
