Northern Monarch

Requirements

The requirement for the position of Northern Monarch is the bloodline of one of the royal families of the northern kingdoms. There are usually no exceptions, but there was once an exception made in the kingdom of Aes.   The last king of Aes lacked an heir of any kind, but when the kingdom was faced with a dangerous threat and was saved from said threat by one young girl, the king offered to name the girl his heir. The girl later became the next queen of Aes, despite possessing no royal blood of her own.

Monarchs are typically coronated in an official coronation ceremony. The details and proceedings of the ceremony differ from kingdom to kingdom, however.

The responsibilities of the Northern Monarchs are whatever the kingdom requires of them, such as managing the kingdom's trade and economy, making sure the kingdom has a trained army ready for any threats, and the general taking care of the kingdom and its citizens, protecting them from invasion and sickness, and providing disaster relief in times when it is needed.

The speciics may differ from kingdom to kingdom, but typically a Northern Monarch is dressed formally and wears a crown.
