Two millennia ago, long before the dwarven queen Aden Bitterbringer brought forth the Era of Unification, a time of globalization and cooperation in the world, there was the Era of Strife: Dragons roamed the skies and the land, fighting amongst themselves and bringing destruction to those unfortunate enough to live below, and the gods squabbled among themselves. Waging wars in divine heights, infernal depths, and in the darkest shadows and brightest lights of the land of fey. Wherever it pleased them, the gods used mortals as their chess pieces.   But the mortals themselves were no better. They allowed themselves to be used and killed in the name of service, and segregated themselves based on insignificant things such as physical features or cultures. Many were too focused on trying to survive in these wild lands to think of cooperation. And they were greedy. For land, food, and of course, magic. After all, in this era, magic was wild, raw, and absolutely primeval power. It was hoarded, guarded, abused and leveraged.   But there was one goddess that did not concern herself with the matters of the Material Plane, nor with the petty in-fighting of her fellow divine. She knew her purpose, she knew her domain. She was content to never meddle in the lives of mortals, to never claim champions, or communicate with her followers. She did not need them the way other gods did. Her purpose did not require them… Until now.   Welcome to Valloth.
