Session 1 - The 1st of Spring, 192nd year of The Empire
General Summary
While enjoying a game of cards and working through their hangovers at Sophie's Tavern, the group's morning was interrupted by a large commotion outside. Rushing to investigate, the found Cedric Barrows, Farmstead Owner, barely alive and collapsed on the cold street of the village.
Father Wilhelm was able to perform yet another public miracle, and after bringing Cedric back to privacy of the church, Vargan The Forester was forced to reveal that he too could use magic to heal.
Once Cedric was stablized, he pleaded for the group to rescue his family, who had been victims of a vicious bandit attack the night before. After some inner conflict, the party convinced Thadeus, Blacksmith of Tribute to take his friends and sail for The Port City of Rystanburg and alert the garrison there to a possible bandit attack. In the meantime, the party began to prepare to investigate the bandit attack themselves.
Meeting at Vargan's house, the group was intercepted by Garfield, Mayor of Tribute who pleaded with them not to go, and to wait for the garrison to come themsevles. The group ridiculed the mayor, who left in a temper (and short one orange feather.)
They wasted little time on their journey, deciding the brave the the mountains and forest of Stragglerpeak. They camped their overnight, and set out first thing the next morning.
Shortly after dawn, they encountered a small road that lead to the Barrow homestead, and on it - a couple of villagers attempted to fix an upset cart of supplies. After a brief discussion, the villagers revealed themselves to be bandit highwaymen, and a fight broke out - with two more bandits ambushing from the nearby trees!
The party took the bandit apart with ease (albeit with a little damage taken) and Bartholo Buck Barcanous revealed a magic wand and propensity for arcane lightning. 3 of the 4 bandits were killed, and they took the 4th a simple man named "Cletus" captive. After a brief interrogation, they learned that an unknown number of bandits had taken over the farmstead.
Armed with the knowledge that Cedric's bandits are a real and present threat, the party takes a moment to regain their composure before pressing on to the farmstead...
