Session 4: Showdown Report

General Summary

As the fight against the Shaman Drekkgrub continues, a goblin, tied up inside the tree as a sacrifice for the ritual takes his chance to slip his bonds and fight his way free. The goblin is called Grubbis and he's had quite enough of all this nonsense.   Unfortunately, Nikolas the Warlock is shot out of the tree, arrow from the goblin fit home and the genasi slipped from consciousness, falling from the tree and smashing to the ground dead.   The druid Daphnis charged forward at the loss of his companion, only to be taken down himself from the spears of the Goblins. Slipping into unconsciousness and bleeding out.   Drekkgrub goes down to a poisoned arrow from Flic, Ofelias incredible speed means she is on the goblins slashing and slicing away. The goblin Grubbis, pelts his former companions with magically imbued stones, killing his least favourite cousin. Arenor gets stuck in, taking hits and using the power of his devotion to crafting to burn his foes. The Shaman woke up, spreading thorny vines over the forest floor to cut them off from the attackers but hadn't counted on the maddened frenzy of the rock gnome Flic, who charged forward and with her blades driving deep into the goblins shoulders and standing above the dying shaman.   The rest of the goblins are finished off, the last of them shot down as they tried to leg it.   The gang round on Grubbis who explains how the Shaman has been acting stragely of late, his powers increasing and taking a group out to perform these strange rituals and that some of the goblins who go with him, including his brother, Gribbis, don't come back. Next thing he knew, he was tied up in a tree and heard the echoing of chanting from outside.   He explained how he'd visited Quintonin the past, and that, in actualty, the gnome known as Quiet Geoff was none other than Grubbis in a rather tasteless disguise.   Going through the corpses, on the Shaman, they found a map, marked with the lines of power that flow through the dark forest, certain intersections marked and with four of the six marks crossed off they figure out these are the ritual sites, with the one they found in the morning being one of those crossed off and this one not yet finished. They work out that the last ritual site would be about a days trek to the west.

After a night of rest, burying the corpses of their companions (after looting thier pockets) and learning of Grubbis's trials in the tribe, and his inability to be allowed into Brixias CafĂ©, they wake up and decide on their next course of action, opting to return to Quinton to inform Aofrik Hannara of the rituals and the next site.   Before they set off, Arenor and Grubbis take a look at the shaman's staff, identifying it as a Staff of Healing that has been corruptd by some sort of evil magic.
