Session 11: Breakthrough Report

General Summary

Continuing through the tunnels, the party find a large chamber full of industrious kobolds along with a lot of mining equipment, the kobolds were keeping seen over by a cruel looking Hobgoblin.   A performance by Flick, pretending to be a the swole goblin (swoblin) and managed to mostly conivnce the kobolds to turn aginst the Red Legion, helping the party kill the Overseer and then letting them know what they'd been up to. The kobolds had been taken from their caves months ago and the Red Legion had been forcing them to work, the last few days they'd been tasked with tunneling through a cave wall and into a complex, disturbing a nest of giant spiders. They've been clearing up after this and an large old woman had gone through into the complex with the rest of the Red Legion, which included hobgoblins at at least three ogres.   The kobolds left, leaving some rewards for the seekers, who asked for anything they had that could be used as traps and were given a selection of kobold ingeniuity in the form of bear trap, caltrops and a few sealed jars of various horrible things.   The party, now beaten down and low on resources decide they have to risk a nights rest, taken precautions to set effective watch and to lay down the Alarm ritual, all but Ofelia manage a full rest. Arenor takes some time to atune to the cloak found on the goblin assasin and discovers that this cloak of darkness can be used to concure a magical field of Darkness.   After thier rest, they made their way though the gap in the wall into the complex, Flick recognised the architecture as similar to that of the ancient Dwarf Holds that the Rock Gnomes would find in the underground realms occasionally. By all appearance, this complex seems to have not been touched since before The Fall. While Grubis torched spider eggs, they discovered a secret door in the first room and it clicked open, leading to a shrine.   The shrine had two tall candlesticks, an altar with two scrolls and a metal bowl and behind it was a large, bronze statue of a four armed figure. The scrolls were so old that they crumbled to dust on touch. The party decided to try and put various fluids in the bowl, eventually trying blood, which caused a single eye to appear on the head on the figure to glow red.

Leaving the shrine, the pass though a corridor to another room and hear the loud snoring of a pair of Ogres.   Another ruse, this time, Grubbis convinving the Ogres that he is a member of the Red Legion (he's wearing red legion half-plate) and that the group are captives of the legion and are allowed through.
