Session 10: After the Fair is over... Report

General Summary

We return to the streets, spires and homes of Shaf Threen.   The selection festival visitors are gone, and the marketplace largely returned to its usual appearance. As the day begins, small huddles of workers remove the last remains of the boundary fences, and sweep the rocky floor clean.   The latest Kommissariat is published with confirmation of the posts to be elected, and also the new restriction on Red Diamonds.   Emlyn returns to the group keen for tomorrow’s start. His Uncle, Kordomal Glint is now up for re-election and keen to re-secure his seat. Emlyn has been told by the Kommissarium retainer (who came to take his uncle’s re-election signature) that there are new reserves of Red Diamonds and possibly other ‘secret things’ north of where the Old ’19 have been mining, and the ‘19 have been recalled for the moment. So the 47 should probably avoid that area (though there would be lots of Red Diamonds maybe)…   From midday the funeral procession of Kommissar Rollo Bolo Holo moves from the Bridge to the Crematorium grounds near the Infirmary. It is only part way through when an alarm bell is set ringing in the distance (at the falls) and then a chain of nearer and nearer bells or gongs are sounded. The alarm indicates something come over the falls – in this case a large tree – made of the mysterious wood material, so potentially of great value. After a dramatic pause it tips over the falls and into the river, drifting towards the bridge. MT47 head for the falls and a prolonged attempt to capture the tree takes place - with Rangers competing (and failing, and getting stuck on the cable car). Once brought to shore the tree can be seen to be split into two main trunks – one of which is blackened and crumbling. The team stash some wood and hand the rest in for the reward.   Finally 'Ress and Maeve went to the Kommisarium building for their interview with one of the leaders. They meet Idon Istrubya and give him a list of demands - including extra red diamonds for workers and casters - and threaten strike action. He seems taken aback but agrees to try and communicate by 0700 the next morning...
