Session 12: Assault on Elturel Report
General Summary
...Upon approaching Torm's Reach, the party discovered there was another group of fiends guarding the bridge. After a brief skirmish, the group cleared the bridge. They then pressed on to high hall. Following some minor delays, and Stocke investigating some cloaked figures, they finally arrived. The grand cathedral was picturesque against the Avernian landscape, although the entire western section had been destroyed. Upon entering they quickly realized that the cathedral was under an assault by multiple fiendish forces attempting to staunch the last bit of human resistance in the city. Although it is ambiguous whether their prolonged decision making process may have costed the lives of some innocents, they managed to thwart the forces attacking High Hall by the skin of their teeth. And saved at least a portion of the commoners hiding in the catacombs. The acolyte of Torm Pherria Jynks, was the de facto leader of the remaining commoners within High Hall. She explained to the group that Ulder Ravengard was leading a military resistance centered in High Hall but had recently went west with a few guards to the Grand Cemetery of Elturel. Their goal was to investigate the rising proliferation of undead in the area as well as potentially recover a religious artifact called the Helm of Torms Sight; a mysterious item said to allow the wearer to commune directly with Torm. The group then took a much needed rest and set out to the cemetery.
