Chapter 5: Interrogations & Revelations
General Summary
We begin this chapter where our last one left off, on the 31st of Laeroth, having just defeated two individuals while the third escaped and rescuing Linn. Our powerful female heros conferred briefly about how best to interrogate the remaining person, who was knocked unconscious. They decide that Lenihlra was to play the interrogator, acting as a peaceful mediator, and ploy the man to give what information he had over to the group. They tied him to a tree and Falaern lightly healed him.
As he came to, Lenihlra was able to masterfully decieve him into giving up some of the information that he knew about the party he was travelling with. The information was as follows:
- His name is Dom Baumann and his (now deceased) companion was named Camus
- He is a hired "tough" from Moldoryn who was roped into this adventure by Camus and Wesley
- They were heading to a house on a hill in Lorisen
- Others were kidnapped by the same blonde-haired individual and taken to Lorisen
- The man who was killed at Linn's House was named Mads and came from Lorisen
The group also talked to Linn and Falaern which led to some interesting revelations. Linn claimed that patch taken from Mads' body came from a likely old and powerful house in Lorisen.
Falaern revealed to the group that she is actually an elf with tiefling heritage. Her real form is that of a light-purple skinned woman with dark purple eyes with cat-like pupils. She has dusty-gray to purple horns that curl around her ears. She wears her long silvery hair loose with a few braids adorned with silver and gold beads which match the jewelry worn on her horns.
She also, after obtaining permission from Linn, was able to tell the party more about where she came from. She is from
Ilythyra. She and Linn act as emissaries for Ilythyra in the Lorasian Empire. She usually stays in Ilythyra, handling incoming messages from emissaries and agents out in the world. When the messages stopped coming in from
Moldoryn, she became concerned and made her way there to find out what was going on. She is a cleric, and her deity is the Saint of Ilythyra, Thydona. She told the group that their history lied to them. That magic is not evil. That Thydona was not evil.
In the days that followed, the group got to know each other a little better. Realizing that they were now involved in something much bigger than themselves (and that Falaern had yet to pay them), they continued on to Lorisen. on the 33rd of Laeroth they came to the town of
Osk, a bustling stop along the way to the capital. They were able to find a ship,
The Glowerm, captained by Kayden "Crazy Eyes" Cidolfas and their crew. After negotiating the price down significantly, Kayden agreed to let them on the ship and get them to Lorisen so long as they helped load - and very likely unload - the cargo. After a brief introduction to the crew, they were off!
On the 1st of Abarat, the party finally made their way to the capital and towards a new step in their adventure, just as the brief drought ended and a storm rolled in from the sea.
