Session 9: Eyes Everywhere Report
General Summary
After lunch, the group headed to Roy 's room for a private chat. Once the door was closed, Roy informed the party of the words whispered by CORG! ! to him at the Steelworks. It seems that the weapons and armor taken from bandits, encountered some time before, were marked with the symbol of "The Thousand Eyes", a powerful criminal organization in the Korth Wall region, and people were frightened, terrified really, that in handling such things they would "be seen and in being seen be lost forever". Some sort of warning or motto of the organization, he surmised. The party was debating the best approach, whether to destroy the items at the local waste chute, carry them somewhere far distant, or just dump them beside the road somewhere. As they debated a knocking was heard. Roy opened the door to a well dressed halfling gentleman. This individual entered, activated some sort of magical device, then introduced himself as Thrimann and asked to speak with them. Invited in, Thrimann asked if he might purchase the marked weapons, offering new for old, like for like. The party questioned him closely on his intentions, why he would take such a risk to trade for marked weapons. Thrimann was reluctant, not wanting to divulge his purpose, but after much persuasion, finally admitted that he needed the weapons and, if possible, any armor found to help him recover a person very important to him, someone who had been entralled some time before. Thrimann was almost desperate, offering all he could to obtain these items needed to pursue his goal and free this person. Furer discussion eventually revealed that this person was Thrimann's wife who had always been faithful, but was stolen away by a member of the Thousand Eyes. Thrimann admitted he needed other items, and asked the party to quest after these things if they wanted adventures.
After some discussion (during which Trysor transformed into a shrubbery, for fun), the party accepted Thrimann's offer, and saw Thrimann use a couple of strange items created by his "twin cousin" to both hide the unusual appearance of the party (making them all seem as mere commoner halflings), and also store away the items traded. The party then followed Thrimann to his workshop where he offered them new made weapons, crossbows, shortbows, etc... for their old items. The party chose to request a "special made" crossbow and shortbow (to be made over the next several days), and a barrel of crossbow bolts. Thrimann also gave them a map of a path through the deep tunnels, far below the citadel, showing the way to a pocket of precious mithril and asked only that they bring a pound of the metal back with them if they survive. Bidding Thrimann goodbye for now, the group headed over to the Black Forest, a dark and dismal shop dealing in things not permitted in more civilized lands. Roy purchased a bag of materials used for transcribing spells, learning that the shopkeeper was in fact another type of "keeper" altogether. Boris and Trysor also looked upon this creature, and fled in utter horror. Jeeves , on the other hand, merely thought the creature interesting. The party considered visiting Maverson's Alchemy, and lamented that Kilraveins component shop will not open for a few more days.
The party headed back to their rooms at the Raynite's Rest Inn, ate a simple meal, and retired to their rooms. Kaalam and Roy had a late conversation about their pasts, and learned that there might be more time between their memories and the current day than they suspected. Eventually, everyone took to their beds, and awoke the next morning, early, to begin their next journey.
Rewards Granted
Kaalam received a giant spider silk stone pouch, giant spider silk sling, and 15 sling bullets which are Shiverstone Ammunition.
