Session 18 - Investigating Axiom Part 3 Report

General Summary

As Rayla Moonshadow and Bramble Lightfeather made for Axiom, Bramble decided to give Winnow Olafson a piece of his mind, returning to Winnow’s Apartment. He instead found Moxie speaking on Winnow's behalf. He implored Moxie to make it known to Winnow how much Rayla needed a friend right now and if she wanted to be angry with anyone for what was happening, to be angry with Yira Inkstep. Moxie resisted the notion the Winnow should feel one way or another about the situation and said that Winnow would probably come around eventually. Bramble imlored her to do so so that he could have a high opinion of her again.

Meanwhile in Axiom, Dac Earreac and Feyre Blackwood continued their investigation. As they moved through the market square, they witnessed Cadence bringing a new gearforged member of Axiom into the city. They asked a nearby vendor of Pempas, Trapp, about this. Trapp explained that Gearforged are born from the Mekanos Infinitum, recovered and reactivated from a time before the fall. While they have no memories from before the fall, they are aware of their soul, their personhood. Recovering and reactivating gearforged is a dangerous task -- the Mekanos Infinitum shifts and changes, difficult to traverse, and is filled with threats of all kinds. For this reason, the Axiom Rangers make their way into the Mekanos Infinitum to specifically find gearforged (or importantly, parts for gearforged).

While speaking with Trapp, the otherwise cute and docile pempas began to act aggressively and broke free of their pen. Thanks to the quick work of Dac and Feyre, they were (mostly) recovered. However, Feyre noticed that the eyes of the pempas were clouded over with a strange purple mist. It vaguely reminded her of miasma, but different somehow. She also deduced that their sudden aggression wasn't likely the result of the a spell, but did have some sort of magical origin. Dac and Feyre also briefly spoke with Cadence. Cadence made it clear that she wanted Dac and Feyre to leave, but made it clear that she was thankful for their help with the pempas.

Winnow also made her way to Axiom to meet Nana Rosie. She was escorted by a guard named Edgar and met with Nana Rosie in her small apartment. The two spoke about their time apart and Winnow spoke about how difficult life had been. Nana Rosie told Winnow that life for the gearforged is hard too. Rumors of various "fleshkin" people ooking to stockpile gearforged parts -- parts vital to the longevity of gearforged. Even Nana Rosie has had to make sacrifices, choosing not to maintain her legs to keep her otherwise alive. Nana Rosie spoke of a gearforged advocate named Coda. She asked that Winnow also retrieve flowers from a conservatory run by Curtis Thorne.

Outside Axiom, Bramble and Rayla enjoyed a soothing bowl of noodles, but were quickly alerted to the noise of the scuffle with the Pempas. Rayla responded, consoling a large gearforged named John who had accidentally stepped on a pempas. In thanks for her help, he allowed Bramble and Rayla to pass and reunite with Dac and Feyre.
