Session 12 - The Fall of Greenroot

General Summary

The adventurers have a speech scheduled in a few hours, where they will say a few words alongside the mayor to reassure the Greenroot peoples that the investigation is going fine (which it is not) to quell public unrest.   In the time before the speech they encounter a group of Deathtoll Gang thugs intimidating a group of local miners, asking for a larger share of their output than usual. Instead of ignoring this, they decide to step in. The fight escalates into lethal combat- the Firbolg is knocked out and taken away and the others flee. It is clear that they are outnumbered.   But the fight doesn't end there. The Realmshield militia arrive to assure that the Deathtoll will stop, but instead, the Deathtoll initiate combat with the Realmshield. The battle spirals out of control, leaving over a hundred dead and destroying a large portion of the town.   The adventurers are destroyed by their guilt and do what they can to help the wounded civilians, before finally making the decision to flee, despite the fact that the Firbolg is still in Deathtoll hands.
