Session 28 - The Contract II
General Summary
The adventurers continue their contract. 68th Rainfell First, they sail to the town of Taliki, delivering the mysterious crates to the houses of the three head aristocrats of the quaint little settlement. The ever-paranoid Jarvis warns the adventurers not to look inside the crates, and a mind-read from Panser reveals not even Jarvis knows what they hold. The trip there is long and relaxed, however, they nearly make the horrible mistake of opening one of the crates which held artworks - artworks coated in a strange oil that evaporates in contact with light! This crate, full of oil-coated artworks, actually goes to Farik Sivral, a stingy lawmaker. They don't see Farik, instead seeing one of his servants, Alide Songhorn. A couple guards help them carry the crate of art into the basement of his house. Alide explains the contents of the crate - revealing to the adventurers that Farik always has his works coated in sun-reactive oil so that he's always the first to see the work after the artist themself. The adventurers are relieved they didn't open the crates! Alide invites them to stay for food, but they insist they must go, so she gives them a nice picnic basket of foods from Farik's pantry. The next crate goes to Narin Strawburn, a rude and dismissive wizard who nearly discovers through questioning that the adventurers looked into the crates. Luckily for them, he lets them go undisturbed. The last goes to the dwarf Edren Swifthoof, who sees them quickly and is grateful for their work. The delivery goes easily. The adventurers sail back home and spend the night in the Steelbeak, which they are slowly getting more accustomed to living in. 70th Rainfell The next day, the adventurers go to the little monk-village of Oroda, finding it a charming and relaxing place. With the help of some monks, including a few children eager to make a coin, they unload the various resources (Mostly metal and metal tools, as little metal-work happens here) and have them taken to the Circle of Plenty. They also meet a monk named Nerin Whitegrain, who gives them all tokens that they can use to have a free lesson in the town's monastery. They enjoy a brief stay here, Akio finding it reminiscent of his distant home in Imaki, albeit far more humble and less wealthy. The trip back is easy. 74th Rainfell The adventurers return to Alduran around midday, just before the end of Cloudfell- tomorrow comes the great celebration of the Moonshine festival!
