Session XVII: The Terror of Istaskogg Forest Report

General Summary

After spending some time with Medan at the graveyard, Malaveth decided to go pay a visit to his father, Róldan Cienoblanco. He asked Genzaburo to join him and he tagged along to Malaveth's home. There he was received by a set of guards who quickly informed his father of his return. Before entering, however, his father's dorm, Malaveth faces an old acquaintance, his step-father Bagatei who seems surprised to see him. Bagatei endlessly berates Malaveth before leaving allowing him to go into his father's room.

Roldán happy to see his son listened to his stories and gave him some solid advice about his current predicaments. Roldán spoke about his impending death and his dread of leaving things unsaid. Then, he proceeded to tell Malaveth about his mother and how, if he ever wanted to, he could find her in Kennistad, a large city in the kingdom of Kiluna.

The party came together once again in the barracks where they separated from Jibril and went to rest.

In the morning, Genzaburo woke up first and found Iron coming back from his morning routine. Genzaburo asked the dragonborn for a sparring session to which he agreed and, after a good match they come back and unite with the rest of their companions. From there they went to Lady Eira's quarters where she told them to go investigate the disappeareances that had been happening around her state.

When they reached Lady Eira's state they heard a drunk man talking about a moving tavern that ate his friend. They delved into the forest to search for this moving tavern and found a set of tracks melded with acid. Deeper into the forest, they found a man half-melted by acid who claimed the tavern ate his boss and when he tried to attack it repelled their attacks.

Standing on an opening in the forest, they found a suspicious tavern and they decided to go in. There, they were attacked by a herd of mimics and by the tavern itself, which seemed to be trying to digest them. They dealt with the mimics, but for their surprise they were shrunk and surrounded by more mimics that threatened to end their lives.
