Session 62: The Artificer’s Corpse
General Summary
The party determined that they needed citizen papers and found a lead on someone who could create forgeries for them–a man named Jim Gallows. Bolvaic was able to meet him on the third floor of the Fortune and Avarice Gaming Hall and joined him in a private card game. He told Bolvaic he could provide the group what they needed, but the price was steep. An Artificer by the name of Argon had failed to make good on a delivery. He would provide the papers if Bolvaic would either pay the 10,000 gold to cover the debt, collect the items that were never delivered and return them to him, or bring the head of the Artificer Argon for failing to bring the items he promised The party decided to check on Argon first, seeing if he was the type of person who should have his head chopped off. The party went to the Artificer’s forge. When they arrived they heard a window break and the party broke through the locked door and found the artificer Argon already dead, slumped on a chair. As the party investigated, they discovered that he was alive, but had cast feign death on himself to try to avoid being caught. The party then began to interrogate Argon to find more information about him. Argon stated that the shipment was delayed in the town of Ostia because of the kudzu and he has been unable to retrieve it. They also found a tiefling girl, Mimsy, who had come to Paraetonium when the kudzu reached her village. She has no family and Argon caught her stealing from his workshop and took her in, hiding her from the Oleander Artificers in the workshop’s basement. They also discovered that Oleander citizens take on a new name upon citizenship, to hide their true names, wanting to remain powerful over the fey. Argon agreed to take the party to the town of Ostia.
