Session 13: Painful Threats Report
General Summary
Recap:
- Simon says his goodbyes to the party as he heads home, and after they trail him for a bit, they wait briefly before approaching the house.
- They're welcomed in by Simon, who invites them to sit in his dining room. After exchanging a bit of chatter, Simon heads upstairs to get their reward for them, and the party catches a glimpse of the other member of the household, a servant girl named Chelsea. Meanwhile, Nutae heads out to try to procure some 'relaxation' for Simon.
- Lia loudly introduces herself, to which the girl reciprocates in an unamused demeanor; yelling after Simon for not warning her about the sudden guests.
- After Simon heads back down, he pays the party, and Sam heads out after Nutae to prevent him from bringing a prostitute to Simon's house; potentially ruining his reputation even further. Tadrel looks around town to see if there's any worthwhile shopping he can do, while Erika and Lia talk to Simon and Chelsea respectively.
- Nutae pays a prostitute to visit Simon's house at some point, which Sam isn't able to prevent; though she does convince him that it's a bad idea, and that they should just head back. Tadrel doesn't find any worthwhile stores, but does notice a trend of stores being franchised by "Mr. Robert's" plaques by their titles. Erika has a pleasant chat with Simon, while Lia disappointingly (for Lia, that is) finds out that there's no romantic relationship between Simon and Chelsea; but instead, more of a familial one.
- Sam, Tadrel, and Nutae return, with Sam taking a post outside of Simon's house to ward off any wayward prostitutes. Chelsea calls for everyone to come eat dinner, and Simon seems a bit excited at the prospect of having his dining room full of people.
- While everyone's eating though, Lucky spots a group of Rousseau Foundation mages approaching the house, fanning out in a tactical formation. There's a knock at the door, and everyone gets ready for a potential fight. Nutae and Lia answer the door, and see a white robed mage, who proclaims that the party possess two things which have been stolen from their organization. Upon getting the impression that they were being threatened, Lia initiates the fight between the mages and the party.
- The white robed mage flees the combat, but the other six prove to be fairly formidable, focusing their fire magic on the non-resistant Tadrel, and nullifying some of Erika's spells. The fight eventually shifts into a cat-and-mouse game between the party, and an invisible mage who's slinging powerful magic while avoiding their pursuit.
- Eventually, the mage makes his way into the house, where he lobs a fireball at Sam, which instantly kills Sumo. The party is able to strike down on the mage outside, which leads him to commit suicide by erupting a harsh snow storm around himself; ending the combat.
- Everyone turns to see Sam, devastated by the loss of her pet dog, while the local guard arrive to investigate the disturbance.
