Session 10: Bonds Report
General Summary
Recap:
- As the group began to find their way into the goblin prison, Tadrel was surprised to find that the goblin who'd garnered his attention began demanding that he entertain her, otherwise she'd alert the nearby goblins. Nutae, noticing this, slid down the roof to assist Tadrel. The goblin girl was quickly growing bored, and not having any comedy material, Nutae attempted to subdue her. Unfortunately, the goblin girl seemed to be some kind of spellcaster, and charmed Nutae briefly; forcing him to grovel at her feet. The goblin girl told Tadrel that she enjoyed puns, and Tadrel thoroughly entertained her with the story of a silly bugbear that was "all right."
- Erika, Lia, Krigga, and Sam meanwhile, entered into the prison, with the first three making their way to the cell of Krigga's companions, and Sam heading towards the captured wolves kept within the prison. Sam reached the animals first, and after convincing them to join her if she freed them, she was able to release the wolves, and use them to help free the many other prisoners. Erika, Lia, and Krigga were able to break out Chandra and Daeynore, who were happy to see their friend come to their aid. Before they were able to slip away however, Lia accidentally stepped on a small bag of fireworks, setting off a loud and dazzling alarm within the prison.
- Tadrel and Nutae turned to see that their cover had been blown, and the goblin girl left, satisfied with her entertainment; but as she passed, she said her name was Shishi. Everyone began making a mad dash to escape, while Sam helped shepherd all of the freed prisoners out of the prison. As goblins chased after the escaping party, a hail of arrows began to rain down on them, and eventually, a huge red lumbering goblin created from some ritual gave chase as well.
- Everyone was barely able to escape the goblinoid camp with minimal casualties. There was a brief rest after the escape, and the party was surprised to see their previous client, Mr. Bloomdale, among the prisoners in the camp. Another curious freed captive was a scared baby owlbear, which Sam helped Tadrel make friends with. Erika and Nutae introduced themselves to Krigga's group, who called themselves The Vaultbreakers.
- The group continued for another week, learning a little more of The Vaultbreakers, and their goal. Chandra explained to the party that they're sights were set on some kind of mythic vault created by a dwarven god built into the nearby mountain. At the end of the week, everyone finally arrived back in Groven, and the group of prisoners hurried off to the town's guard, with the Vaultbreakers taking rest in a local inn named The Red Whisker.
- The party promptly made their way to Lady Fiora Murray, with Erika deciding to veer off from the group, trusting them to take care of finishing the mission. After waiting briefly, the party was welcomed again to the lady's office, with the baroness being far more presentable this time around. The unsettling news was explained to the baroness, who was impressed by the lengths the party went to in order obtain the information. As a reward, the baroness gave the party a total of 1000gp, as well as a magical longsword from her personal armory. Given the nature of what the party found out, the baroness also asked them to put in a good word in for Groven to the Guidewind Corporate, so that their aid may come at a less expensive price.
- After being paid, everyone split to different areas, with Nutae buying some materials from the witch Violet, Tadrel and Lia purchasing new equipment, and Sam returning to her old spot at the Gnarled Bark Tree in the center of the city. As the party handled their business, Erika finally had the conversation she sought after with her son, expressing her feelings of regret, and earning a small place of tolerance to her son for helping his group.
