Session 3: A difficult situation part 2

General Summary

Moving Forward with their adventure, the party is split into two separate groups as Adonis and Alex are separated from the others. In a desperate attempt in the dark, Alex and Adonis search for each other in the forest. Luckily, they find each other while Alex is making camp in a tree. However, before Adonis could start climbing, they hear rustling leaves nearby and quickly hide. An owlbear enters the area, whether it was merely passing by or hunting, they could not tell. Yet, against the odds, they manage to hide and the owlbear leaves letting them rest until mourning. After a good rest, Adonis and Alex begin looking for their friends. Meanwhile, R0-K1 attempts to help his friends find him and Navi by creating a massive fire and creating smoke signals. Adonis and Alex see this and are reunited with their friends now standing before the crater they were looking for.   The crater is rather big, almost 400 ft. in length, and has a slowly descending slope that eventually ends in a hole in the center. This crater revealed a hole between the surface and a massive cavern underneath containing the ancient city of Qordo. They look among the dilapidated buildings before finding a narrow passageway among the wall that leads to the ground floor below them. One slip and it would be a 1,000 ft. fall. However, with the party coming prepared with climbing gear they descend downwards onto the path. The path itself went two ways following along the cavern wall: one directly into the destroyed city, and the other leading to a section that seems inhabited by people. Alex being the stealthy one of the party heads to the seemingly inhabited area to discover what is going on. While sticking to the shadows, Alex discovered that there is a settlement of interesting individuals and heads back to the group to report.   The party decides to go away from the people and make it into the city, however, as they looked through the ruins and ancient skeletons of goblins they hear even more people. They quickly hide, but unfortunately, Navi is heard moving some rubble and they are discovered. Luckily, these people are quite friendly. They are introduced to a half-elf named Willan who is a little rugged in appearance and has a few scars. He states that he is the sheriff from a nearby town who technically has a claim to this city as it is underneath land that they own. He and his company lead the party to their camp where they have kept their wounded while the party looks for the Roskurn.   They arrive at the camp safely where they aid the townspeople who have been suffering injury and infection from hostile wildlife that strikes at night. While they do this, the sheriff asks to help with the other Inhabitants. It seems that a cult called the Gathering of the Enlightened also has a claim to this city as they had been living there for years. The sheriff tried to get them to leave diplomatically, but they refused and are now at odds. The sheriff said they could have any loot from the cultists and can search for the relic unopposed if they helped the townspeople. The party agreed and eventually came up with a plan to try and sneak into the cultist base by lying to them about their intentions. The next morning the party makes their way over to the cult where they learn more information about the cultists and the townspeople. Over the course of 2-3 days, the party learns that the cult is very peaceful even though they partake in blood sacrifices and "blood magic" which leads to the party conflicted. These escalate even further when the party learns that the cult has the Roskurn!   After much thinking, the party eventually decides to sneak around in the cultist's camp stealing anything valuable and eventually making their way to the Roskurn. R0-k1 reluctantly reaches to grab the Roskurn, but Navi feeling compelled by the magical desires of the Roskurn swiped it from him and in the process triggered an alarm. They quickly sprint out of the cultist's complex and open the gates for their escape, but they come to a sudden halt. Before them is a Massive contingent of hobgoblin soldiers and in front of them is one in a seeming captain's Uniform stating "I am Yemik and am here on behalf of Dalvur the sword. You have something I want."
