Session 076: Wilder Dreams of a Bard Report

Redfall 22, 2023 KC, early afternoon

  Thornwinds   so far...   The tatttoo on Sas is done.   They want to return to the ship so Shadow can copy the Magic Tattoo of Striding.   When they get back, the captain gives them the Letter from Ellas Lantaththar to Wild Cards & the coins...   Barlo goes back to the tattooist   Bastion started to look at the Books they have, and chooses the Analysis of Divination Spell Extension into the Astral Plane.     Calliope bedazzles her overalls, and braids for the teammates' hair. performance (14), everything comes out exactly how she wanted.   Bastion int (11). Learned a bit about the author who wrote this in Toril and somehow this book came here. With what he has learned of these two worlds by this point, much of Toril exists in Dierde otherwise he learns that which is on the page for the book.   Barlo goes for the small ornate Magic Tattoo to cast Message. he had a high CHA so she is willing to give him the discount that she gave the others. He wanted to use the Detect Mind flayer ink on the Mark of the Telepath tattoo. (100 feet, and no corkage fee--used a full ounce) 5 hours.   application (+3 and advantage) (fail, fail, success, success, success) also retconned the contracts   his claws came out a bit as he got nervous, she was getting nervous too... but it worked out. He gets a leaf. the tattoo is a "celtic" tribal "eye" split in half with each half on each temple in the "bald spot".   he heads back. Shadow had failed in her copying of the tattoo so she waits until Sas goes to Sleep to try again.   During that session, Sas read The Alchemist's Laboratory: A Guide to Brewing Potions for Profit and Adventure (12), no new knowledge really. A section on the "Elfleaf" they had used on the tattoo. It comes from Hyulla-Putyor and is ground up then mixed with other additives to help sooth and Heal the skin. Especially when used with a green Elfleaf.   Barlo still thinks of putting something in one of the empty 6 slots. For a second he almost used the luckstone... nevermind. The crit ring? Boots of Striding and Springing   Shadow pulls first guard as she works on the tattoo... she succeeds.    

Calliope Galanodel's Dream

She is pushing for a happy Dream in a happy place... (13) she feels happy, she is at a table with her notebook of flowers and about her travels. She is noticing the vivid qualities and this notebook is more full than her real one. She is on a wooden chair with moss instead of pillows, similar to those from Skola Vale. This is a gallery, her gallery that she has long dreamed of (crit then 15-- Silver Flame briefly appears) The clouds seemed to be about to go dark, but they were held at bay.   Sees her father, Melios Lamphi, walk by and wave, then her mother, Relia, who waves. She is surprised. then the elder walks by. her mind wanders a bit and thinks of herself. The things she could potentially be.   3 successful saves   The voice "Looks like I can't get in tonight.. that is too bad. I do offer you a gift, my trade is in secrets and so I offer you a chance to learn a secret, do you accept?"   Calliope "I do like secrets"   The Voice of Vecna: "it's the truth about that group your mommy-dearest is a part of. Those little groups."   Calliope: "what's the catch?" it is hard to truly insight a voice in your head in a Dream, (11), so hard to tell. She can feel he is untruthful, but hard to truly discern.   Voice: "Would you like to know?"   Calliope: "Yes."   Voice: "Your mother thinks she is for the Light and that Garm Pavond is now part of the dark, but the truth is they are both a part of the Blood War and led by Fiends Demons and Fiends Devils that are using these groups to continue their fight of law vs chaos.   Calliope: "So she is on the quote/unquote light-side?   Voice: "It's what they call it, it is really just the side of order when it comes to the Blood War.   Calliope; "How do I know you're telling the truth   Voice: "You never really know if anyone is telling the truth   Calliope: "I don't like you.   Voice: "you wouldn't be you if you did.   Calliope: "Do you have snacks here?   Voice: "Do you want snacks?   Calliope: "yes, do you have snacks?   Voice: "I have snacks where I am, if you want to come here...   Calliope: "Stranger danger, dude. no thank you.   and the voice leaves...   She starts to float as she feels she told him.. she is Dream level 1.

Bastion Bladesinger's Dream

  he is wanting the safety of a library... (wis save 16) He is realizing he is in a lucid Dream.. As he wishes to be in a library and he is . Lots of Books, he sees an elderly version of Grognard as he remembers him from his youth. Grognard looks proud at him as he studies these Books... Books about Bladesingers and the artform.   (wis save 11) Then things change... Grognard is upset and comes up to him. Starts yelling at how he caught him again... not studying the real magics. The sword turns to dust in his sheath.   (wis save 24) as he deals with the beratement and then finally gains some strength within as Grognard becomes the younger version he has seen in his travels, he smiles: "The harder you train, no matter what I've said about the swords-- it has been making you better."   In this moment it seems as if Grognard pushed him away from the bladesinging in an attempt to make him study it harder. If he had made it easy then maybe Bastion wouldn't have gotten as good as fast as he had....   Grognard begins to "melt" away into a spectral version and more representative of the "spiritual" version he recently saw where it is various aged versions of him coming into and out of the same body.   then the voice: "But I am curious, would you like to know a secret?   Bastion: "From you? no thanks.   Voice: "alas, I had hoped tonight would be the night.   d20: 7   He begins to feel as if he is control of flying. Just as he has learned a lot about bladesinging on his own, same here.  

Barlo's Dream

  Barlo's subconscious knows this all comes from the days with Captain Meklan telling him and Teeka stories. Save: 10   So as he sits there with the dice and Teeka, the dice becomes so heavy. It starts breaking his bones inside of his arms -- they are shattering. Brittle and broken, he uses the other arm to hold it back up.   Save: 9   he feels it is going to get worse -- so he uses his Inner Strength to reverse the direction of this Dream, giving him a success. By pulling that out, like a rage, his bones begin to rebuild. He is better, and looks around. The Dream had Meklan turning into the Grognard look... but he returns. Even Teeka was taking on a maniacal evil Goblin look, but now she doesn't look so scare.   Save: 10   As he holds his arms they start to feel week again... then a voice: "Would you like to know a secret?   Barlo looks at the other two. They are starting to fade into the shadows and the area is going dark...   Barlo: "last time you asked for a secret, so now you want to give me one? Sure, tell me what you know...   You think that you started Macklin on this path? But everything, every interaction he ever had with you was not the first. And he was always manipulating you to do what he needed you, what he wanted you to do.   Voice: "You think you started Meklan on his path, but everything, every interaction he ever had with you was not his first. He was always manipulating you to do what he needed you, what he wanted you to do. Your choices were always his. In fact, he's the reason why you're having your little "other side" coming through-if you will.   Barlo: "My other side?   Voice: "The little purple Dragon that keeps trying to find its way through you. He did this in his own way.   Barlo: "He was responsible for this?   Voice: "In his own way.   Barlo: "I will have to thank him when I see him.   out of the Darkness there are two strangers. Dressed in the garb of the other Cultists of Thornwind. They break through where the Friends are and they turn to mist.   ** COMBAT**   one strikes out with a scimitar, after wiping the blade. misses   Barlo rages. Claws. Crits on last hit (then a 2, so nothing) He kills him, then faces the other one and steps up "Come on..." It was a solid hit as the Dead one falls.   The other one does the liquid flame on his blade, and hits. As the blade cuts through him, slashing damage but no other effect   **SAVE**   He tells him "Tharizdun will have your soul" then he disappears.   ** Combat**   makes 2 successes total.  

Sas W.T. Rayce's Dream

  She wants to Dream of her hermit days..   wis save: 25   She is there... in the wilderness, a mountain near home. a cave she made her dwelling for that period. She walks out, the same cave but lots of mushrooms and spores, various forms -- not sure if they were there before. THen she notices she is in her Dream.   Wis save: 15   She looks out. sees her dad heading to a ship far out there, he is younger.   Wis save: 17   The abbot comes around the corner and says how proud he is of all she has accomplished... best Dream ever!   at that moment, the voice: "Would you like to know a secret   Sas: "what will the secret cost me?   Voice: "It is more about unveiling what you really didn't know and the costs from that, there is always that cost   sas: "So you're just being generous... what's the secret?   Voice: "When your father made the decision to leave. He did seek, the advice of one close to him. And your friend the abbot was the one that advised him that it might be a good idea for him to to leave for a little while, do what he thought was right. But when he did it, it seems that he did it for his own reasons. You can always ask your youngest little sibling on why that is.   Sas: "what does my youngest sibling have to do with it?   Voice: "why the abbott wanted him to leave   Gortam is the youngest.   Before the voice leaves it says: "I will get that world from you one way or another. If you want, you can always drop it off with one of my little Doomdreamers. And then I will leave you alone.   Sas: "Good luck.   three successes   Turns out, this was during the time Shadow was copying the tattoo. perc (28) She sees some wincing... Nothing too serious, but she does see something occurring. Not enough to wake her.   After the offer is made she feels lighter, and she can also Fly.   Shadow isn't sure about what happened during the Dream. She goes to bed...  

Shadow in the Snow's Dream

  She is getting homesick..   wis (7)   she is walking back home, with Arktos. The Earth starts to shake, starts to swallow her family and the Shadow Clan Shaman Hidden Depths   wis (18)   But things calm down... Arktos helps and everything, then...   wis (14)   And then Arktos runs away. The ground starts to swallow people again. Then Arktos is gone...   The voice: "oh, has everybody left you? I can comfort you with a secret. Would you like to know a secret?   she squints... she is upset... she is curious: "What's your secret?   The voice: "The truth is, you've been set on a mission. That coin was given to you. The book that was taken by your brother. All of these Lead to Bast And what she wants you to sacrifice to help her Pharaoh.   Shadow: "That's not a secret. I know they're connected to Bast.   Voice: "but she's put all this in motion so that you would sacrifice something for her own purpose.   Shadow wants to insight the voice... not good.   Shadow: "what does she want me to sacrifice?   Voice: "Oh, i'm not going to give you all the secrets right now. ... I can't even pull you in either, I was getting close with your other feline friend. You're still kind of a little resistant, but I will share that which has been told to your friend with the orb. IF you guys give that orb up, I will leave you all alone.   Shadow: "Not a chance.   the voice leaves. She can Fly and is level one.

  Everyone meets up at Sas's room. Discussion of the Dreams. He recalls from his readings -- the purple Dragon is also known as a Deep Dragon.     Calliope, history (12) Seems she might have slept during the fey Dragon class... She knows they exist and so do Fairy dragons.   Shadow picks up his tail and looks...   Bastion casts Skill Empowerment, arcana (22), medicine (5)   It seems it is not very apparent outside of a rage. It is not magic. It is a part of him. Bastion has a bit of experience with this as he had the Elf inside of him. It helped his connection to the bladesinging artform. As well as after Kolvar left him, he had the manifestation of the metallic Dragon in him. Since the other day. The hat can't detect him. Asked if they misplaced him.   IF they need to travel, they still have Professor Umbercresct or even the Psi Crystal...   Bastion wants to send a Message to the Balabar Sprocket and Dipple Sprocket brothers.   Message: "captain orb missing or taken. Can we find?   response: "Not sure unless you put osme type of tracking spell on it. sorry.   note: I also brought up how wizards don't have to "Memorize" the ritual spells. They are always memorized.   also discussions about a reward poster. offer 499 gp   discussions on Scrying or other spells... Locate Object.   Sas realizes she can still change out some spells and put in Scrying... or not as it needs an expensive focus.
