Thornwinds
Thornwinds is a popular and generally peaceful port city on the west coast of Æwrûn, it is outside of what is considered Dyrt.
Thornwinds is a village located on the temperate seacoast, where the vegetation is thinned out, but used to be thick. The nearest landmark is the large statue one must travel under if coming by sea, it is often referred to as the Guardian's Greaves. The population is apx. 75,000 but around 15,000 of that fluctuates based on season and other factors. There are around 12,425 buildings.
Demographics
Mostly humans and dwarves, but a wild mix as it is an important hub of trade.
Government
Thornwinds is governed by an Elected Representative government, but many are aware that the real power is the conglomerate of thieves guilds in the shadows.
Defences
Law & Order
Law in Thornwinds is very much punitive based, and those that breach the laws can expect hard labor, incarceration, or sometimes public execution. The crime is generally low as the criminals are already in charge and they know they don't want to ruin the community they have here. It is not a very well-kept secret how the city is actually run by criminals in the shadows, even if their organizations and names are the best kept secrets. Due to this most are afraid to break any serious laws here. Magic is treated with suspicion, and guards look for any excuse to put a magic user away behind bars.Industry & Trade
Economics
Trade in Thornwinds is mostly free, with some taxes applied to goods and services rendered in the city. People live a squalid existence because of it. Welfare is bad. Citizens can expect the bare minimum of death services. Healthcare and education are fringe cases, and citizens would do better to seek a private benefactor than try and receive treatment from the government.Districts

West Docks
These are the Northern Docks, and tend to be more about luxury goods or passengers, especially as it is on the North side of the River.

In the past this was one of the most dangerous areas of the cities, due to raids and such. The soil here now is vey great for most farming -- possibly due to all the past fires.
Old Town
In the originally city this was the wealthier part of the city and so it would seem that it still is, with its access to the Castle District it is generally considered a hub for the Nobles and Financers in the city.
The Gardens
These parks are tended by a prominent Druid Guild.
Stonefall Gate
The Stone Fall Gate is an area most tend to avoid.
Blackbridge, aka Black's Bridge
The bridge is the main access point between the two halves.
History
This port used to be a grand port and had a large statue of a warrior fighting a large dragon that greeted and warned those who came to the large city. At some point, long lost to history it was destroyed, leaving the legs of the warrior, the head of the dragon, and only a narrow way that ships can go through or risk hitting the submerged statue parts.
At some point before the Great King a band of pirates from Carrune resettled the area, and over time were able to build the area up. With the lands of Dyrt and the knights who train there it became a way to bring goods in and a port for adventurers seeking glory to the west.
