Session 30: Behind Enemy Lines Report
General Summary
Introduction
The red-tinted sun has fully crested the mountain range on the horizon as the tires of the the Krasian APC come crunching to a halt on the dirt road leading up to the small hovel of Hearthome. Jason stands out in front of the entryway into the village, compromised of a dozen homes alongside a few larger structures that seem to be a central tavern, town hall, and shop. The area around the quaint village is surrounded by fertile fields with tilled rows on one side with a small orchard on the other. It seems like it was picked up from a lush world and placed down in the midst of these arid plains and holds a stark contrast to this barren stretch of land towards the west of Starport. As Kyra and Dash crack open the doors of the APC, they are greeted with fresh, clean air. The air holds a richness to it that is familiar only to Rimmers as the fertile air of a long-since used terraformer. Kyra notices the transponder pinging Anna’s location go silent. Tumerian’s still sends from Starport and no word has been received from Rose, Chiara, Mark, or the paralyzed man John. As Jason walks towards the Krasian Patrol vehicle with his friends inside, he hears a voice of an older man call out from a doorway behind him.“I guess you really are one of them. We ain’t got much here in Hearthome but give what they said was required. From rumors I’ve heard from other villages, is it too much to have the hope that you and your kind will leave our village in peace, even if just to return the kindness of strangers?”

Dash, Kyra, and Jason stopped for a moment so Jason could talk to Victor Kerns. Jason admitted to not being a part of Krasia and accepted the old farmer's request to dissuade Bo, his son, from joining the Krasian's to "protect humanity". Jason managed to reach the boy and seemed to successfully convince him not to give his life to the Krasians. They drove off towards Starport and Tumerian's signal, stopping briefly at a river to clean themselves and their clothing from the blood and residue of combat.Tumerian
Tumerian spent the day in the Starport. He opted not to go towards the Hotel he'd inquired after and instead milled around the marketplaces. He went back towards his datapad broadcasting his location that he'd hidden in a hollow in a wall down the street from Kennio Jenkins Repair Services. As he approached, he was ambushed and almost captured. He quickly managed to lose them in the city, circle back, and hide out near the stalls but far enough away to keep an eye on his hidden transponder but not near it.Rose and Chiara
Rose and Chiara met with Nathaniel and Aris inside of the underground city. They were forced to remove any and all electronics and communication devices. They were also required to hand over any weapons, though Chiara seemed confident they hadn't found all of her various blades. Aris showed them around briefly, tried to ascertain why they were there (Rose said they were doing land surveying), and tried to figure out where the others in their group were. Chiara let Rose talk herself into a corner while laughing. Aris agreed to take them up the mountainside to her makeshift coms tower to let them reach out to the others safely away from the underground. As they traveled, Rose slipped and consistently fell down the side of the mountain trying to climb the rocky path. After taking a moment to recover, she headed back up and they sent a message to the rest of the team with plans to regroup at a specific set of coordinates the next day around 14:00.The Starport Retrieval
The APC team traveled to Starport. They stopped a few miles outside of town and hid the APC behind a large boulder. Dash opted to stay with the vehicle, rest, and guard it as Jason and Kyra went into the city after Li. They hitched a ride with a passing Farmer driving along in a rickety pickup. They hopped in the back and Jason began looking through the man's produce crates sneakily. He found one with a false bottom with packs of 9 with strange pills inside. They pulled up and were stopped by the barricade outside of town. When they were motioned to exit the vehicle, Jason "accidentally" cracked open the case and let the smuggled drugs fall out. The Blackshirts surrounded the farmer and pulled him out of the vehicle as Jason and Kyra slipped away into the city. They approached the signal Li was broadcasting. Li, fortunately, noticed them approaching and walked across their path, made eye contact, then went over towards a booth purposefully ignoring them. Jason and Kyra picked up on his intention and wandered past the signal location further into the city. They ended up meeting up stealthily at a Dum Sung restaurant close-by. They explained what they had each learned about the city over a meal. They realized they would need a way out of the city. After forming a plan needing an ID scanner to reverse engineer access to the local KPO database, they exited the building and headed towards the Spaceport separately.Femme Fatale
They found an alleyway on a road where 2 blackshirts were approaching in the distance. Kyra stepped into the alleyway and set herself up in a scene of distress, calling out after a creature that supposedly bit her, while Jason and Li milled around on the street nearby. She successfully distracted the two Blackshirts and lured them into the alleyway. As they approached to aid her, Jason and Li rounded the corner after them and plunged blades into their necks. Jason's pierced out the man's neck and through his mouth, killing him instantly. Li's turned slightly and almost screamed as Kyra stepped forward, covered his mouth, and pushed him backwards onto the blade. Jason and Li tilted them forward to try and keep as much blood off of the uniforms as possible. Jason quickly pulled the bodies further into the alleyway as Kyra and Li changed quickly into their uniforms. Jason insisted Kyra and Li walk back to Kennio Jenkins Repair Services as he smashed the bodies' faces, cut off their fingertips and toes, and broke their teeth. He then disposed of their bodies after destroying their obvious identifiers, showing his BlackOps training. They met up, Alexa took over Jason's body at his request, and together they encouraged or assisted her in hacking into the network to provide Kyra and Li with KPO IDs while also making Jason's ID the official Attaché of Commander Garry Larson. It was after dark at this point, but they opted to stroll down and out of the city anyways. They approached the barricade openly and had the KPO Blackshirts and Fist guarding the city exit scan their IDs. Jason claimed that some dignitaries were approaching that he had to meet and escort into the city. He managed to successfully use his knowledge of beaucracy and their IDs to convince the border guards and leave. The guards at the barricade claimed they'd report the issue to the Commander should they not return in the 30 minute window provided. The group quickly made their way to the Krasian APC and found Dash lurking outside stealthily while guarding it. They regrouped and started heading off across the continent towards the location Aris had given them to rendezvous. While enroute, they stopped by Alicia's location as it was on the way. They found her missing. Dash went alone and found the datapad with the following note left by her resting on a circular memory core from Mark.Anna's Farewell
"Dear friends. I hope you all can forgive me for saying goodbye this way but you know I am not good at the sentimental stuff. It has been a wild ride knowing all of you but I think my adventuring days are over. I wish all of you good luck and many mimosas in your future travels. Sincerely, Alicia and Botley." Dash read the note and retrieved what Alicia had left for them. He heard a faint noise in the distance of sobbing. He approached stealthily and only made out John's voice calling out after kicking over some rocks. John cried out for aid, but Dash determined there was no way they could care for him and survive an occupied world. He snuck away, leaving John to die, and mentioned nothing of it to his friends awaiting him in the APC.Girl's Day In
Meanwhile, Rose and Chiara had another confrontation regarding the tension between them. Rose came clean about her uncertainty in why she knelt before William Blake, her mother, and the reason she had always felt threatened by Chiara (regarding Jason). Chiara admitted a lot of her past, clarified her interest as a sister-figure to Jason, and they recanted stories of what they'd been through. After some bonding time over the slop the Underground had given them to eat, they explored the cave system together. The biggest oddity they found was a few of the Resistance guards coming out of a cave entrance that seemed to vanish when they left it. They weren't able to find the way to open the entrance before more guards approached and they abandoned the project.The Farmhouse
The girls set off with Aris on a little 4 seater All-Terrain vehicle. They snuck into the Farmhouse and Aris admitted that she'd chosen this location as it was one that had a family who was helping the Underground but had been taken to the Hold mid-supper by the Krasians for their good deeds. She admitted she wanted the crew to see what the Krasians were doing to try and compel them to help, knowing them to be good fighters and people with good hearts. Aris panicked, knocked over a table, and hid behind it frantically as a Krasian APC drove up outside of the building. She believed them to be betrayed and the others prepared themselves to fight until Jason strode forward and kicked open the door. Chiara scrunched up her face then casually tossed a dagger into Jason's armored chest before running forward and hugging him. The group gathered inside of the Farmhouse and recanted their various tales on New Avon. Rose casually mentioned that she was carrying around her mother with her but immediately backed off and fell silent whenever the group, Dash especially, pressed her on it. The reunion was cut short as Jason caught sight of something approaching from the sky above. They watched a dropship descend and Jason immediately realized it was a Krasian Dropship likely carrying a Fist. They fell back into the Farmhouse looking for anywhere safe and did see the large metallic doors of a cellar out behind the building. They turned frantically as a loud thud echoed through the wooden farmhouse as a large Titan Mechanized Armor smashed down into the ground behind the stolen APC. They realized that their time to flee was gone and steeled themselves for a fight.Rewards Granted
