Session 9 / Tuuran Hill Part 2 Report

Session started with the party waking up from a nap in Meela's library. As the party were waking up, Meela returned and confronted them about going through his things. Haatha asked Meela what he knew about the old-world doctor whose journal they found.

The Nature of Steam Cores

Meela reported that he suffered from jumbled memories. Some were those of an old doctor who made steam cores, some seemed to belong to other people. Meela shared more information about the steam cores: the human soul inside is still sentient, and when the steam core is connected to an automaton body, it can speak and remember its human life.

The party remember the cat statue in Magehold and ask if it has become the automaton shell for the steam core they left in the temple. Meela informs the party that an automaton will usually go into a rage and destroy everything around it after gaining a body. The party is shocked and decides to immediately head back to Magehold to mitigate the damage done by the temple cat. The party also discussing the possibility of finding other steam cores and helping them by building bodies for them.

The River Nomads

Upon leaving Tuuran Hill, the party came across a river nomad camp. They asked around the camp to see if they could get a passage home. While they were in camp, they encountered the King's court alchemist (Thupyaf's sworn enemy) and a river-boat smuggler (Diira's sworn enemy). The party overheard the adversaries arguing about the best way to get into Tuuran Hill to see if there were steam cores there. Thupyaf sank the river smuggler's boat by jumping into and breaking through the hull.

Thupyaf convinced a river nomad matriarch to give the party (inluding Meela) passage back to Magehold in exchange for cooking for her family. The party returned uneventfully to Magehold. Upon arriving at the city docks, they discovered that the Temple Ward of the city had been destroyed by the rampaging temple cat. They found the cat automaton chained up in a courtyard in the Wall Market district.
