Serious Sea Elf traveling the world and learning to crack jokes and interact with other races
Velalinnwen is a Sea Elf. She was born to Gaeralagos and Maeves (Father and Mother respectively). They both were well known amongst the Sea Elves. Gaeralagos was a master of creating storms to fend off Pirates and others who wished harm upon the Sea Elves, leading him to be a well respected member of their army. Maeves was a healer and tended to the elderly Sea Elves and the injured when war was under way.
Velalinnwen had beautiful lilac purple skin, and her hair seemed to be both black and white at the same time. When light caught her hair, it shined, and in the shadows, it was pitch black. She has a few dark purple tattoos, most noticeably on her shoulders and arms, and one spanning her brow.
She is 6 ft tall with her hair falling to her mid back. She is currently 323 years old.
As with most Sea Elves, she has an air of privilege around her and she acts nearly like a noble, even though she is not of noble descent. She takes everything very seriously and will rarely crack a joke. But at the same time, she is also very kind and will try to help those who are deserving. She does not trust others easily and will let their actions speak for themselves, rather than trusting their word.
She commonly wears a golden headpiece and a gold armband. Her preferred color of clothing is blue, as it matches her stark blue eyes.
Velalinnwens birth was not traditional, as she is the only being to have been born in the eye of a hurricane. In the midst of a war between the Pirates and the Sea Elves, her father pulled a hurricane from the ocean and put it between the land of the Pirates and the cove the Sea Elves called home. He did not know that his very pregnant wife was on her way back from tending to a wounded sea animal, and the hurricane struck her down. Injured, and barely able to move, she was thrashed by the hurricane eye wall until suddenly there was nothing, and she was in the calm of the eye. The battering of the hurricane had sent her into a premature labor and she gave birth to Velalinnwen alone. The baby girl had a beautiful lilac purple tone, and her hair seemed to be both black and white at the same time. When light caught her hair, it shined, and in the shadows, it was pitch black.
After the battle was over, and Gaeralagos had calmed the storm, Maeves swam back home with her new baby. She was telling the story of where she had been and what had happened when one of the elder Elves came by and interrupted to tell the prophecy of days forgotten.
“A fearsome hero will be born. Not to Nobility, nor to Poverty. Her uniqueness will present itself, in the ways of the old. Hurricanes will announce her arrival. Our homes will crumble and despair. She will lead the way and help rebuild. She will change the ways of the elves, and will be the one to demand respect of others to our race.”
As the elder ended her sentence, Velalinnwen’s right shoulder glowed with a bright blue light and as the light faded, a dark purple “tattoo” appeared on her skin, spirals forming a shape of a hurricane. The crowd that had formed around the mother and child were unable to speak or remove their eyes from this beautiful baby. No elf had been granted a magical tattoo in many millennia. Let alone a mere baby. Velalinnwen opened her eyes for the first time and they were a shocking bright blue. A color that rarely showed in Sea Elves. The royals heard about the gathering and sent their guards to find out what was happening. And on that day, Velalinnwen became a legend.
Over the years, Velalinnwen grew up without a want for anything. Every Sea Elf did what they could to make her life easier. They gave her toys and would stop working to play with the young toddler. As elves don’t often have children (due to their long life spans), this would be considered normal. However, even nobility would deign to play in the water with the tiny girl.
A short 30 years later, a massive battle broke out again between the Sea Elves and the Pirates and this time, the Pirates destroyed their town. The Sea Elves were heartbroken. Velalinnwen was so young but she still did what she could to help those who had cared for her as a child. By her 100th birthday, the entire city had been repaired to it’s former glory. She was officially an “adult”, even if she was still young. She had spent time studying both with her father on the battlefield, and with her mother learning healing magic and controlling water. For her birthday, Her father gave her a beautiful golden headpiece which shadowed the looks of the helms that the soldiers wore, but with more graceful lines. Her mother gave her a gold arm band reserved to mark those of a healer. Even the royalty deigned to give her an amazing gift that would typically be reserved for nobility. She was given a baby water dragon, with green blue scales and a long spiked tail to propel it through the water. Tindror, Champion Of The Blue. He was beautiful and would be Velalinnwen’s lifelong companion.
Over her first 100 years, Velalinnwen earned 4 additional “tattoos” (after the "hurricane" tattoo). Her first was when she first started to help those in need after the destruction of the last Pirate War. It appeared on her hip and was a pair of swirls that could be interpreted as two hands together.
Her second appeared after she had succeeded in getting her first hit against her father on the battlefield. The “tattoo” appeared on her bicep and took the resemblance of a curved dagger.
Her third appeared after she successfully brewed a healing potion for sea sickness (not that any sea elf would need it). This tattoo appeared as a mass of swirls that circled her wrist.
Her fourth appeared when the tallest tower in her city was fully rebuilt. The tattoo representing this was a line of connected swirls running down the length of her spine.
She gained a 6th tattoo on her 100th birthday as she gazed into the eyes of her new companion, Tindror. This tattoo appeared on her left shoulder and was an image of a dragon with it's tail creating "infinity" symbols.
At her current age of 323, she has 13 total tattoos, 7 of which were rather large (6 have been described so far). The 7th was curving lines that covered her forehead in a beautiful design that she earned upon finding her Druidic focus (a tusk from a narwhal). The other 6 were much smaller accomplishments/life events that merely put small spirals and waves near her other tattoos.
