Vraxak is a Dathomiri Zabrak, but the differences between his subspecies and that of an Iridonian Zabrak are so miniscule that most never know. Vraxak is the child of Dathomir in its purest sense. Born to a Nightsister who had an illicit affair with a Nightbrother to whom she was not mated, Vraxak carries a bloodline prized on a world he's never seen.

Vraxak's mother was barely more than a child herself when she was sent to check on Mother Talzin's son Maul, who had been taken by Lord Sidious. Enraged by his treatment of the young boy, she attacked the Dark Lord of the Sith. She did not fare well, and was left for dead. Sidious informed Talzin she died and warned her against sending others.

Vraxak's Mother was discovered clinging to life by an Iridonian Jedi. Trained as a Nightsister, she used every means available to survive, including convincing the Jedi to stay with her without breaking his Jedi Oath. The Knight provided for her, and gave her a comfortable life in the Mid-Rim - and four force sensitive daughters. His sisters were all taken and trained at Jedi Temples, but his mother convinced his father that only the Jedi were forbidden attachments - that Vraxak and she could be attached, know them, and love them provided they did not interfere with the girls' studies. So it was that Vraxak grew up with a distant father that he loved and saw whenever possible, and four sisters he would kill for that never knew him. When his father died on Geonosis at the beginning of the Clone Wars, Vraxak sent an anonymous note to all four to mourn the fallen Jedi. He and his mother were heartbroken when he died, and she followed his father within the year from grief. Vraxak immediately signed up for Planetary Defense Force training and worked as a soldier, then a sniper.

Just before Order 66, each of the five were visited in dreams by the specter of their mother. The Force ghost told them to find each other, and to go to the Singing Mountain on Dathomir.
