A warlock and heir to House Dalibor, a middle noble house-- or at least he would be the heir, had his father not been executed (for attempted assassination of the Queen) and his family not been stripped of all holdings. Vice and his mother were exiled to the city of Remthyr, and are forbidden from entering any city ruled by a High House; he has been told his exile would be lifted if he graduates Nightcrest and joins the Adventurer's Guild, which influenced his decision to apply. Generally a cool, calm presence-- so long as his family name is not insulted, as he believes his father was innocent. A skilled swordsman, especially with his pact weapon (which is does his best to keep hidden).
Vice has demonstrated the ability to summon a sword of blood from his own wounds, which has been identified as its own item and not merely the result of a conjuration spell. Called Nepenthe, this sword seems to live within Vice's bloodstream and deals powerful radiant damage when wielded-- but also originates from the Nine Hells, and (obviously) is tied to forbidden hemocraft (blood magic). Vice has confided in Oliver that he believes his father was framed. He took on his pact weapon so that he could become strong enough to prove his family's innocence and seek justice-- or, at the very least, revenge.
After a duel with Fitzwilliam Wildemere after the Academy's 98th Midwinter's Ball, Vice was expelled when he used Nepenthe in the duel and then refused to allow the professors to try and extract it from him.
