Personal history
Many decades before his cousin Caelwin was born, Lysanthir Taur’amoren became the first black sheep of their noble family. Lysanthir is much more interested in uncovering the past than furthering study for the betterment of his people. Though his archaeological pursuits would have been well and good, had they focused on only Eladrin culture and artifacts, his staunch insistence on excavating the far less acceptable ruins of other races earned him a quick expulsion from his uncle Laucian’s newly-formed university in the Fields of Autumn.
As he traveled further from home and discovered new cultures to be studied, Lysanthir found that he ran into far too many zombies and reanimated skeletons during his excavations than was convenient. He decided that the most efficient way to handle that problem would be to learn the “Turn Undead” spell, but when that proved to be too cumbersome, he sought a more powerful solution. After witnessing the divine impact of a cleric he’d hired to clear out a ruin with him, he decided to “simplest” solution would be to become a cleric himself. Though the journey proved more complicated than anticipated, Lysanthir spent several weeks in a temple of the Raven Queen, eventually dedicating himself to her service, drawn by both his academic interest in death and his insistence on remembering the past. As the Raven Queen does not ask for regular worship, sacrifice, or even active attention, it was truly a win-win for Lysanthir. So long as he continues to wipe out the undead from any plane he travels, he will remain in her favor.
Lysanthir "Get the fuck out of my ruins, you undead fucks!" Taur'amoren is a bit of wildcard, particularly for an Eladrin, committed seemingly only to the preservation of history. He enjoys lording his knowledge over others and seeking out new cultural mysteries to be solved. He is a regular visitor to Falon and first met Prince Edmund while attending court to directly protest a recent land sale that threatened an excavation he was leading outside the city. All injunctions he had filed with the council had been overturned and, using his immense ego, he decided that appealing directly to the king would be the most appropriate next step. He was greeted instead by a newly promoted Captain of the Royal Guard, Prince Edmund de Falondis. Only a young man at the time, Edmund found Lysanthir’s (literally) holier-than-thou attitude hilarious, rather than threatening, and though he did expel him from the castle, he later bought him and drink and asked to be shown the dig site. In the end, Edmund convinced his cousin to step in and allow the dig to continue as planned, though Lysanthir certainly never thanked him, even if he did suspect his involvement.
Over almost two decades, Edmund and Lysanthir became casual friends, always having a drink when Lysanthir found himself in Falon, or Edmund was patrolling an area close to an active excavation. When he heard of King Levondel’s passing, Lysanthir had not planned to attend the funeral, until he also heard that his friend was being appointed regent. Confused, and (though he would never admit) somewhat concerned, he made haste for Falon and had been helping Edmund manage some minor land disputes when Princess Euna resurfaced. Lysanthir was the first person Edmund turned to when he was ordered into the Feywild, and though he does not relish the thought of returning to such an culturally monotonous place, his familial connections will certainly be of use to his friend.
