Personal history
Sky Full Of Stars was born on a moonless night, deep in the jungles of distant Corvinia, the province to the east of Falondis. The night of her birth was of particular note, as the stars shone unusually brightly through the dense canopies of the forest. Though her childhood was as normal as any tabaxi of her village, learning the ways of the forest and its inhabitants, her life was changed irreparably when the Corvinian army used her home forest as part of a war march into Falondis. Her family was among the first victims of the brief, but brutal, Falondan-Corvinian War.
Stars swore an oath of vengeance against the humans that destroyed her homeland. At only 15, she travelled into Falondis, seeking to aid the enemy of her enemy. On the front lines she met Prince Edmund de Falondis, the young, former Captain of the Royal Guard, promoted to Commander of the Falondan Army in response to the sudden and vicious Corvinian invasion. Desperate and inexperienced, Edmund utilized Stars’s youth, stealth, and rare tabaxi heritage (virtually unheard of in Falondis) to infiltrate and strike hard at the heart of the Corvinian forces. She was often sent on missions with the tiefling scout, Seirilia, another of Edmund’s invaluable allies, and the two became fast friends on battlefield.
On one fateful, disastrous mission behind enemy lines, Stars was caught while assassinating a high-ranking Corvinian officer. Cornered and frightened for one of the first times since her tribe’s destruction, Stars sent up a prayer to the heavenly bodies she was named for. Corvinian soldiers still tell the tale of the traitor tabaxi whose eyes shone with starlight as she opened a portal to hell to escape death.
Though it was not a portal to the Nine Hells, Stars’s desperation unlocked the blessing she was born with on that moonless, starry night. The goddess, Selûne, patron of the moon and stars, wanderers and navigators, and diviners and dreams, granted Sky Full Of Stars the gift of Horizon Walking.
After the war ended, Stars took to the wilderness, attempting to understand her strange new abilities. It was very difficult to find her place, as she felt the constant shifting of the cosmic planes against her consciousness. It took a considerable amount of time, but through study with some priestesses of Selûne, self-reflection, and constant exploration, she began to understand her role as a balancing force in the multiverse. Other rangers balance the forest, or the wilderness in the face of civilization, but Horizon Walkers balance the cosmos.
Stars was visiting her old friend Seirilia in the city when Princess Euna returned to Falon after her imprisonment. When the recently “dethroned” regent arrived, seeking Seirilia’s aid on his journey, Stars was insistent on accompanying them, insisting that her ability to find planar portals would be invaluable in the search for passage into the Feywild.
