Personal history

Born to mother Shava and father Lucan Hanali. This elf family had always called the The Great Woods home. Humans believed the woods to be haunted though and called it the Shadow Wood. During her younger years, her mother taught her about the healing herbs and how to take care of the people around her who were sick. Her father taught her about hunting and about death. He taught her to never kill more than necessary to live on. He tried to explain war to her, as he used to be an archer. He had always explained that death is not the worst condition, but that life filled with evil and malice is not worth living.
 
During this time, the elves were close friends with the faire of the forest and often times her mother and father were gone for weeks. They would explain that they had to go and protect something or do something. Astera never understood why but she enjoyed the company of Zestril, the unicorn who was the Great Forest's guardian.
 
One day. Astera was out picking lavender for her mother when she heard chanting and explosions. She ran back to her home to see a strange man chanting and waving a wand. Behind him was her home where her parents were. Zetril popped behind her out of a tree and pulled her inside it and she popped into a gnomes front yard.
 
Astera asked what was going on and if her parents were okay. Zestril said probably not and it is not safe there now. He explained that a magic user did not like what her parents were doing and wanted to kill them. Zestril wanted Aster to be safe, and he left her with a gnome tinkerer.
 
Oppleby Waggletop was an old gnome that could never find a woman. He said it was because he was too intelligent, and it intimidated women. In actuality, Oppleby would get distracted and forget that he needed to spend time. Oppleby taught Astera all he knew about alchemy. She called him Papa Gnome.
 
Zestril came back when she was 23 and said it was safe to return to the area. Astera wanted to go back to rebuild her home and take care of the southern forest while Papa Gnome helped to take care of the northern. She returned home to find the house burned. She fixed it up and slowly began to heal the townspeople.
