Carnira grew up as a seasonal nomad with her family, shepherding a herd of mammoths in the Djunkarat Plains. Their home base was two hours west of Stouthorn. While she never had an issue with the nomadic lifestyle, the rough handling of mammoths did not align with her talents and interests. As a child, she would write and draw on any available surface.
It had been clear for a while that Carnira would not join the family business in adulthood. So when she came of age, she said goodbye to her family and traveled east. It was in the city of Boletha that she first laid eyes on a portable map. You see, most minotaurs have an excellent sense of direction and memory for geographical information, and maps are considered an insult to one's navigational pride in minotaur society. Though the occasional map exists at a bulletin board next to a settlement entrance, or etched into a boulder along a well-traveled route, portable maps have no place in minotaur society.
So you can imagine that when Carnira laid eyes on a cartographer who was sitting in an inn, hunched over a detailed drawing of the surrounding area, she was full of questions. A life of travel and drawing sounded amazing. She was hired as an assistant and helped the cartographer on his travels to Clearwen, where he was to give a guest lecture at the geography college. During their travels together, he taught her the basics and was impressed with her talent. Within a week, Carnira decided that her future would start with a study of geology, with a specialization in cartography.
After her studies, she joined the cartographer's guild and set out to earn her living on a commission basis. She ventured through the Fayfields and the Maskshore before visiting the The Highoak Woods.
It was in a treetop village that she met the love of her life. Carnira and her gnome partner adventured together for a long time and discovered the Firal during one of their adventures. Both decided that they would join the cause and become Firal members (gaining access to the spell Firal lights). They settled down in Clearwen when Carnira grew towards a retirement age. Carnira opened a cartography shop and her partner started working at the Firal Hideout. Carnira has been infusing her maps with Firal messages for agents out in the field. One of her most famous maps is her map of Matonga.
Map of the continent Matonga on the planet Tunoda. When viewed with tFiral lights, it shows a rumoured location of each of the the prized problems.
