I wrote a few notes on him and his background, let me know if you want me to change anything pre game
He grew up in a small idyllic halfling village in the landlocked countryside - but he yearned for the sea and often pestered relatives, neighbors and traveling merchants for stories of the sea ultimately finding himself leaving his kith and kin to venture out and find a ship.
 
That ship happened to be the Viperfish- a pirate ship captained by a Dragonborn named Captain Ripper. He made lots of good friends and saw a lot of the world with that crew (never really taking part in the plundering or killing unless one of his shipmates were in trouble but when they got overtaken by a fleet of patrol ships Rundan simply became a stowaway on the patrol ships that’s overtook his crew until eventually they assumed him crew and he took over as a monkey rigger for them.
Then the fleets commission ran out and he ended up in SaltMarsh where he drinks and eats and is looking for his next crew to help.

He’s kind of an accidental pirate- a sort of innocent fool who finds the good in everything and is happy near the sea and with a full belly
