Personal history
Birth
Cara was born as all children of the Emerald Vale are. When her mother was about to give birth, the midwives open a portal to the Fay and took both her parents through. While the portal was held open by the younger midwives their leader prepared her mother for birth. When Cara was born her eyes opened to the strange world of the Faywild and was blessed because of it, marked like the rest of her tribe with white hair and green eyes. Her Father Cyroc Withakay, a Kalasthar, and her mother Elistray Withakay would only be blessed with this single child and as is custom, Cyroc ventured into the nearby crystal forest and harvest a single crystal to shape and give to his child on her tenth birthday.
Childhood (1-9)
Cara was a wild child who ran barefoot all around the Emerald Vale, she climbed trees with her cousin Syval, who was like a sister to her. The young elven girl often encouraged Cara to play pranks on the other children of the tribe, but both were known to be generally good-natured. As part Kalashtar she is blessed with her father's gift as a spiritual vessel. Thus she carries with her the spirit of the Fae within her giving her a stronger connection to the veil between.
Initiation (10-12)
On Cara's tenth birthday she and her cousin were given their focusing crystals made by their fathers and began their training as Emerald Knights. Cara was shaped like a Faerie Dragon similar to the one she had as a pet for a time. Though the cousins continued to goof off and prank, they began to take their teaching seriously as the learned magic, the Faywiled, and the creatures of their island.
Teenage (13-16)
When their initiation was complete the girls became Fledgling Knights and were assigned to their teachers. As a custom, Cara's first druid was a Tabaxi man named Extor and though he had been an Emerald Knight for 60 years his edge had not dulled. Cara loved and admired her teacher and traveled much of the island of Liera with him.
At the age of fifteen, Cara moved on to her next teacher a halfing Paladin by the name of Thomas Fetterfoot as part of her training to understand the people of the island. Yet Fetterfoot proved to be a poor example as would often shakedown villagers for protection money and rarely gave tribute to his god Amaunator. Eventually, Cara stood up to him nearing the end of her training when the Paladin demanded the last remaining coin from a small village in the name of blessings from Amaunator. Cara knocked the paladin over and exposed him for the fraud he was causing the villagers to run him out of town and name Cara a hero.
Adulthood (16-20)
Upon returning home a great feast was held in her honor and Cara became a full Emerald Knight, in a few weeks' time her cousin Syval would do the same and the two became distinguished as discerning protectors. Four years into their knighthood the women were sent out to a small nearby village who had been pleading for help against a strange sickness that was overtaking their crops and people. When the Knights arrived they saw nothing but rotten crops and bodies of the villagers had been turned into unnatural aberrations. Worse yet they learned that this same corruption was headed to the Vale. The two raced back as horses and arrive home mere hours ahead of the corruption. For a week the Knights of the Emerald Vale fought for their homeland eventually winning but at a cost. Much of their home had to be burned as well as their dead and Cara had the burden of placing her cousin's body upon the pyre.
When the land had finally been healed and the dead lay to rest, Cara and nine other Knights said goodbye to their families and left the Vale in search fo the source of the abominations.
Knighthood (20-24)
In her travels, Cara has found minor sources of corruption and beat them back, but has learned little about the source of the corruption beyond that it comes from the underdark. She has heard rumors that people from the underdark have been emerging from their homes and integrating into civilization. Cara has now been traveling from village to village in hopes of meeting one of these former denizens and learn the source of the corruption. She feels pressed for time as her dreams of late have been filled with darkness and suffering, visions she believes from Deneir hinting at a large evil soon to come.
Along the way, she met a Kobold by name of Vahlum a curious individual who seems to care more about his tribe than anything else. It became quickly apparent to Cara that this creature knew nothing of what she sought and so she has never brought it up instead, preferring the company of a fun creature unaware of the evil lurking on the island.
