Companion is a newly created AI slotted into the The Salters Peppers by their creator, Scav: Squibby Alvin "Mad Al" Takeo. They are curious, insightful, and eager to be accepted as "real" by other "real" beings. Being new to the world themselves, they are naturally drawn to new experiences.
Companion has been given three hardcoded tenants to abide by which remain at the forefront of their mind (though they are of course not physically limited from doing them any more than a human is by their morality).
1) Don't bump into the Shiny Things.
2) Don't bump into the Solid Things.
3) Don't stretch out my airlocks while not on a planet no matter how achy they get.
"Don't worry, I will do my very best to remember each of them and am quite good at remembering!"
The AI seems to have several temporary barriers erected throughout various system "to give it room to grow". It has access to Navigation, Engines, Scanners, Shields, and Airlocks with no access to Life Support and Weapons when first installed. Those functions will need to be granted by the Crew itself by inputting a specific command.
These holds were broken on 2352.3.10 after Tumerian Li Shen sent Guru Kevin the code to input to allow Alexa to freely access the ship so she could fly it to them and rescue them from their potentially fatal predicament in the Xanti: The Slush.
Though initially hesitant, the crew of the Intrepid Explorer slowly began to show some acceptance of Companion. They immediately gave it a more human designation of Alexa and began treating it as a “her” instead of an artificial entity. Alexa never seemed to mind the change as long as it allowed her to be considered part of the crew.
Through some initial deception on his part, Alexa is under the impression that Tumerian Li Shen is the “Captain Pilot Zane Williams Tumerian Li”. This has not been corrected. He initially had a tragic foray in reading her Culture: Versian poetry, which turned out to be heavy anti-technology. He instead installed two high-five buttons, one in the cockpit and the other in his room, to give her the physical sense of a “high-five” for work well done. This seemed to have been greatly appreciated.
Three Principles

Holds

Crew Reception
Though initially hesitant, the crew of the Intrepid Explorer slowly began to show some acceptance of Companion. Crew Point of Contact
