Thirteen years ago, a band of Harpers came to Barovia with the intention of inspiring the people to rebell against Strahd. These Harpers underestimated Strahd's power and their endeavor ended in tragedy.

Doru Donavich was one of the citizens inspired by the ill-fated party, and lost his life all that time ago. He has since been turned into a vampire spawn and even more recently was vanquished by the Guardians of the Horizon.
