The S.B.S.S. legion is known to be part of a project ran and funded by the corporation Superior Biology.
 
The exact nature of the project has not been made public,but speculation runs wild, based on how every member of the legion seems to have the exact same powers. Rumors abound, but the most popular include some sort of breakthrough in research on the nature of super powers and people being recruited for experiments to give them powers.
 
However most pundits think all of that is hogwash, and that Superior biology has made some sort of deal with the Grakaenaios for a custom made private security division staffed entirely by Human form Grakaenaios, considering Hans is the only member of the legion ever seen unmasked (or shirtless) in public.
