Trained as a scholar from a young age and traveling the Sultanate and Yamalya he worked as a teacher and researcher, he became a researcher for hire when he discovered his powers which led to trouble on a job in Thilia.

Ilir was born in Thilia but left at a young age to peruse the academic fields outside the limits of the theocracy. Working as a teacher of minor and middling classes at regional schools and later the university of law and history in the capital of the Sultanate he discovered his magical inclinations around the age of 98. After climbing the ranks as a professor and teaching the highest of classes in legal investigation by 130 he started to get approached with offers to do research of a less scholarly nature for significantly better pay. At 148 he retired to a guest lecturer from his prestigious position at the university and started a lucrative career in research for hire for wealthy clients who are willing to pay for answers. His work took him through the Northern half of the Eastern continent, always coming to rest in his home north of the Capital of the Sultanate to fill his free time as a guest professor. At 159 he received a messenger at his home in the sultanate calling him to the home a Yamalyan trader with a mysterious request. It was this request that led to the investigation of a chain of front companies and influence networks operating throughout Yamalya, Cratham, all leading back to Thilian nobility and government figures. Intercepted correspondence with a source in Thilia led to his arrest while looking as records in a rural mountain city while posing as a Thilian government auditor. Accused as a Keatian spy he met a fate of an undetermined prision sentence, better than what would await if they found he was the investigator that had just found the connection between the Thilian government and their influence and trade operation.
