Practical and thorough, no page goes unturned in her search for answers. Though she can be sharp-tongued, she is a warm-hearted teacher, researcher, and archivist who welcomes all who wish to learn into her library.
The Librarian
You are a keeper of books and
sometimes of silences. Your ways might
seem old-fashioned to some, but you
always try to keep those around you
safe — whatever the trouble may be. |
You are alive. Your care is sincere, well-read,
and rooted in things stranger
than most realize.
Choose 2 you are...
Hospitable & Curious.
...and 2 others whisper you are.
Impatient, very particular & More than meets the eye.
Choose 2 books you always show others...
Folk Magicks And Standing Stones, a deep blue leather-bound book, whose untamed mysteries and superstitions Adelaide believes are more rooted in truth than fiction.
Songs Of The Olde Tongue, a heavy, well-worn tome of tales, lyrics, and history centered around the Olde Tongue, the long-forgotten ancient language of Felival. Some pieces within have yet to be fully translated.
...and 1 you carry in secret and will not speak of.
An unassuming leather journal, filled with wild theories she dare not bring into academia, lest she make a fool of herself.
Choose 2 things you carry from the library...
A set of owl-bone quills with white and black feathers, made by Adelaide's own paw.
As a schoolkit, she worked on a group project studying local birds, during which she befriended a young, snowy owl who had fallen from his nest. They struck an agreement - in exchange for a vole, the owl would part with one of his feathers or indulge one of her many questions. In record time, he became bald and fat.
She went on to publish her first scholarly article, revealing the inner workings of owl society, and became the youngest author to be recognized by an academic journal. But to her surprise, she still received a failing grade from her teacher on her report.
The teacher sighed, not for the first time, "This was a group project, Adelaide." |
A small, rectangular carved stone with a hole in its center. Its edges have been worn down over centuries. She keeps it as a talisman in her pocket.

Appearance
Identifying Characteristics
Describe your look...
A white and dark tabby she-cat with long whiskers and a fern-like, fluffy tail. Bright green eyes with an unmistakable stare, over the rim of a golden pair of eye-glasses resting atop her soft pink nose. Her fur is kept neatly groomed and attire fasionably librarian. One could say she wears her books, for she is never without one in her paws. Her scent is reminiscent of reading a book on a rainy day while sipping on a cup of chamomile tea.
Apparel & Accessories
- A golden pair of glasses
- A thick leather satchel that holds every good librarian's tools — a journal, quills, ink, a good book, and some snacks.
Specialized Equipment
A Thick Textbook
Books are truly versatile. Thick enough to stop a blade; heavy enough to give a cat a concussion — but more importantly, it protects the wearer from ignorance.
A Thicker Textbook
She is never without an absurdly thick textbook at her hip. Those who underestimate her may find themselves with a headache and and a fun fact from the book that caused it.
Owl Bone Quills
Honed to a razor-sharp point and reinforced with bone, these quills act as better knives than pens. In a pinch, why not both?

Some things you can always do...- Look for answers in a book.
- Provide an explanation, no matter how outlandish it sounds.

Hesitate.
Ask:"Have you ever heard about...?"
Say: "Please."
Relax, in an unexpected way.

Virtues & Personality perks
After years of research and dabbling in various subjects, Adelaide has a wealth of knowledge at her disposal. If she can't answer a question, she knows precisely where to find it.
Rules are merely obstacles to overcome. Forging official documentation for "archival purposes", writing strongly worded letters, striking the closed-door deals with afluent felines...anything is fair game in the name of legal loopholes.
While particularly proficient in gardening, cooking, and tea-making, she is resources and capable when applying her paws to new techniques and skills. She says it's far more practical to apply yourself to many things than limit yourself to a few—especially if you just do it right the first time.
Vices & Personality flaws
One morning while setting her tea kettle to boil, Adelaide wondered the best method for maximum flavor extraction. Her assistant chided her for re-boiling the water eight times while she rifled through her library for the solution. "But Carex," Adelaide exclaimed, "There's no reason to waste time on mediocre morning tea when the answer is lying about here somewhere..." Carex sighed and refilled the evaporated kettle a ninth time.

Adelaide spent her entire degree preparing to negotiate for the rights to what would become her life's work - The Atheneum.
She powered through endless legal books and jargon to see through bad counteroffers and find loopholes in her favor. Her painstaking efforts and careful planning paid off. With her life's savings, she purchased a small plot containing a large, old willow tree, just beyond the campus property line. Once graduated, she made her proposal to the university to capitalize on their reknown for Olde knowledge and teachings, and dedicate an entire library to the subject. By the time she became a Seeker, she had been published in scholarly journals, taken lead roles in research studies, and proven herself as an exemplary library aide. Her GPA was top-notch in degrees that would best position herself as the ideal candidate to become the Head Librarian. As alumni are automatically granted admission to the annual Academe Philanthropist's Gala, if her proposal was rejected, she warned that she would need to obtain private funding and charge access fees in order to keep the library open to visitors.
Her painstaking planning and negotiations paid off. The location of the willow tree was convenient for faculty and students to visit, but since the entire tree and its root system belonged to Adelaide, whatever structures they financed would ultimately become a part of her property. It was a tough bargain, but in exchange for Adelaide's unpaid employment as Head Librarian, they would build the Atheneum and her private living quarters. As long as she remained employed with the university, and no other entity, they would pay for staffing and maintenance.
Of course, she was thrilled to accept.
After spending a year building up her collection and ensuring the success of the Atheneum with students and faculty alike, Seeker Adelaide passed the bar exam to become a Magiologist, on account of creating Felival's first compresive libary of Olde.
She formed professional connections with the Historical Preservation Society as an archivist. One of the society's members was a Magius who sponsored her request to fund her studies of the collection she had amassed in the library. The Association of Magiologists approved a seasonal stipend to fund her research.
Between the university and associations' funding, Adelaide is well cared for and wants little. For personal expenses though, she relies on a small stream of royalties earned from her published work.
