Hailing from the frozen wastelands of Sabanth, Ægira Naïlo carries the power of the Elemental Planes in her blood. The child of a Sea Elf and lusting Genie, Ægira's blue skin and hair are typical of a Water Genasi, with only her slightly pointed ears betraying her Elven heritage. Like most half-elf children, Ægira was not welcome in the small elven community she was born into and was raised by her mother, Eirla Naïlo, as an outcast. A skilled and knowledgeable Druid, Eirla taught her daughter to respect and revere the power of nature, guiding Ægira as she developed the magical gifts bestowed upon her by her Elemental parent.
When Ægira was 15, her mother was employed to save a small town from an outbreak of Snowflake Sickness. Whilst Eirla ultimately succeeded in saving the town and many of its human residents, she succumbed to the sickness herself. Now alone in the world, Ægira turned to petty crime to survive, using her quick wit and magical abilities to trick others out of their coin. When Ægira skills as a con artist and as a druid came to the attention of a visiting pirate captain, Thorin Fayresword, she was promptly propositioned. Wooed by the stories of treasure, adventure and comradeship, Ægira joined Fayreswords's motley crew. At sea, Ægira's uncanny ability to manipulate the weather, control water and commune with wildlife made her a invaluable member of the crew, able to track and pacify the merchant ships they so often preyed upon. In harbour, her charismatic, if somewhat thuggish, personality kept her belly full and the grog flowing. By the time she was 20, Ægira had already climbed high in the ranks of her crew and had developed a fearsome reputation as a pirate in her own right.
