Personal history
Elara is a prime example of someone who has turned adversity into strength.
Born of scandalous union between a human merchant and an elven noble woman; Elara was abandoned at an orphanage in the river district of the City of Greyhawk. Here she fell into the employ of the Beggars Guild and one of the few to survive the purge of that organization at the the hands of the Thieves Guild. A local merchant sheltered her and gave her an education (which she was forever greatfull for) after saving her from some thugs.
Tired of the dystopian river quarter, Elara made her way to the country side, where she put her education to good use as a teacher. When a group of her students had their parents killed in expedition to the Barrowmaze, the school also became an orphanage.
Not just content to help her fellow North Roaders, Elara would set out to areas suffering from natural and man made calamaties; offering her help and quite often bringing home one or more orphans to her school.
The bond between student and teacher is more so when the teacher is both savour and a powerful empath. Such a connection has her supernaturally linked to several of her alumni. She often helps guide them to do good in the world and have come together to form teams of adventures where they would be needed the most.
Employment
Elara runs the orphanage which caters to the domain of Greyhawk. She draws no salary but gets by through the donations (which are many from the good she does). She also works hard to keep the orphans busy, by educating them and their efforts help keep the orphanage running.
Alumni often contribute to the orphanage as well. And, a few of them are psychically linked to Elara, to help her in her charitable work.
