Eliander Fireborn is a member of the Saltmarsh Town Council, and nominal leader of the town guard, though Captain Gordol Thorne takes on much of the day-to-day responsibility.
In his youth he fought in the Cerulean Army, where he earned a name driving the wild things of the Fearwyd Weald away from the settled lands on the coast.
Fireborn is somewhat of a local celebrity, thanks to his facility with languages, and he is often called upon by the town's various organizations to assist with translations.
Whilst he insists his early retirement and relocation to Saltmarsh was driven by a desire for a more relaxed way of life, he is still a great supporter of the Cerulean Empire.
He recognizes that Saltmarsh is on the verge of tremendous growth, in part thanks to the Copperlocks Mining Company, but also sees the growing influence of the Sea Princes behind every stroke of misfortune.
Eliander's only daughter, Carmilla Fireborn, is the person who means the most to him. He would do anything for her, though he has always maintained some level of control over her life.
Tall, imposing, and burly, Eliander still bears the air of a seasoned soldier. Several light scars cover his tanned face, and his left leg has been replaced with an ornately carved wooden peg. He still walks with a heavy limp.
Despite his rather brutal appearance Eliander is an urbane and educated man, fluent in many languages. That does not stop him from using plain language however.
He has a cautious approach to council matters thanks to a strategic mind, but once his mind is made up he can be stubborn to a fault.
Eliander is a veteran of several engagements from his time the Cerulean Army, and lead the forces that helped to bring Seaton under Imperial rule.
He is well respected in the town, and has put himself in harms way on behalf of Saltmarsh on several occasions. He lost his leg during a victorious battle with a huge feral owlbear that was terrorising several nearby farmsteads.
